Johan Santana had successful arthroscopic elbow surgery Tuesday morning at New York's Hospital for Special Surgery.
Mets medical director Dr. David Altchek preformed the surgery and was able to safely remove multiple bone fragments from Santana's left elbow. The left-hander finished the year with a 13-9 record and 3.13 ERA in 25 starts, and is expected to make a full recovery by the start of spring training 2010.
