Wainwright makes his first start in over a year today. Meanwhile, Carp just left camp because of stiffness in his neck. Hopefully it's not too serious.

Carp just suffered another setback with his neck and is heading back to St. Louis to look at it with specialists. Pretty much guarantees he won't be starting opening day and that role will fall to Kyle Lohse, according to Matheny.

If he goes on the DL - which seems like it'll happen - then Lance Lynn will take his spot in the rotation.

Oswalt's rate stats all went in the wrong direction, across the board, last season. I can see why nobody has matched his demands.

Oswalt is smart enough to know that teams will get more desperate as we move forward. Everybody has 7 or 8 arms lying around atm, but eventually guys will get hurt and teams will realize some of the arms they are optimistic about are bums.

This way, Oswalt can skip ST, wait for a contender to get desperate, and pick his spot.
