why trade for alston when u have dooling and harris?

VC to lee is a severe downgrade... and its not like tony battie is a game changer

theres no telling what lee will amount to, but salary or not the nets are looking like shit next season if this goes thru

wow this would be awesome of the Nets do this.

I love VC but he's not going to be that great player he was...time to continue this youth movement and enter 2010 with a damn good nucleus of Harris, Lopez, Lee, CDR, Anderson. Not to mention Alston and Battie to come off the books (IMO look for Alston at least get released soon after).

Meanwhile for the Magic, I like this deal too. The Magic BADLY needed someone who can finish at the rim better. This is interesting because VC will get those isolations that Hedo got if he doesn't return. They are both as equal of a passer IMO and shooter. Only now, you have someone who can finish at the rim. IF this is with Hedo coming back, it's a huge nightmare for the East because now you have someone who can get to the rim, AND PASS, AND SHOOT...to go along with Hedo and LEwis....scary.

^ You missed the part where the Nets are also sending Anderson to Orlando.

If I was the Magic, I'd have tried to have gotten Sean Williams.
dang I liked Anderson ha......still a good deal IMO.

I'd rather them take Williams...he has amounted to nothing so far as a pro...spare the moments of few block parties he has thrown.

and again, Alston is just to get the contracts to work. Pretty sure he will get released soon after this.

Yes, I understand that. I'm not blind. But do you see what we've gotten in exchange for three of the best players in the NBA? Close to nothing, save Devin Harris. Fuck the Nets organization. Fuck them. They have no idea what they're doing anymore.

Outside of that, what's with this Vince Carter "not what he used to be, so trade him"? I don't care what he used to be because he gives you 21/6/5. Why the fuck would you want to trade that for nothing because "he's not what he used to be"? Even in rebuilding mode, you look to go forward, not back. This move now sets the Nets WAY back.

Ok you should know as a Nets fan they are positioning themselves for the LeBron sweepstakes...they got Harris, some cap space and Lee...be that as it may...they may not have a shot at him but they believe they do because of Jay-Z's connection to Bron.

They clear the cap and get a useful player...a young SG which was a need for the Nets team. It's better than letting him walk and not getting nothing for him...you knew the Nets been trying to trade VC away for cap relief. At least they didn't pull a Bucks and just get Battie and Alston...heh.

The Nets gave up Ryan Anderson too in the deal? Dont like that at all. Orlando really gave the works to the Nets in this deal.

But just because I'm a Nets fan doesn't mean I have to agree with what they're doing or say that what they're doing makes any sense. "The LeBron Sweepstakes" won't be coming to the Nets. In fact, I don't believe for one second LeBron is leaving Cleveland... and if he does, he's not coming to the Nets. Like I said before, Spike Lee has a connection with Kobe. That doesn't suddenly mean he's going to the Knicks.

Cap space translates into nothing on the court. All cap space says is "Hey, look at us with all the money we're not using." It's all this future talk. You know what Boston did? They said, "Fuck the future, we want to win now." They traded away Jeff Green for Ray Allen and then traded Al Jefferson and a bunch of players to get Kevin Garnett. Why? Because they wanted to win. Guess where they are now in the future? Winning. Championship caliber team. One ring to show for it all. The Nets had three chances to become that with the players they had and showed up with nothing.

The Nets had no reason to get younger at the SG position with Vince Carter. That's ridiculous. That's like saying, "Oh, we traded you to make the other team so much better just so we could get a little bit younger." We needed to trade for a better power forward or small forward because Yi, Simmons, Hassell, etc were not the answers. I'll be at home enjoying a 15-67 season while the Magic go compete for the Finals again.

I like Anderson but let's not make it out like he makes the deal go from good to bad on the nets side...

having VC kept them at 38-44...that's what you want? You wanted them to get a few more pieces to make a run with mostly young kids and an aging VC??? cmon.
