Heat 2nd Round Pick to play ball in Greece

As TalkBasket reported earlier today, Olympiacos was still looking for a supplementary US guard for the upcoming season. The club officially announced a 2-year agreement with 21-year old Patrick Beverley.

185cm tall Beverley led Team USA in points, assists and steals back in 2007 in the U19 World Championship held in Belgrade.

Last season Beverley played for BC Dnipro, Ukraine having 16.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 2.2 steals and 1.3 blocks per game in average.
First Dozier and now Beverley. Now the Heat don't have any draft picks from this past draft and the only new addition is Q-Rich.

    Great...

    OPA!

Heat have had an epically bad off-season..

Its funny to me.. Bosh and LeBron havent come out and said they wanna stay.. their teams are trying to improve hard to keep em around.. Wade does stay he wants to stay, and the Heat do pretty much nothing to help him this off-season.

Riley isn't going to make a move for a big time player unless he locks up Wade. If he makes a move for a player and Wade leaves, then what's the point?

That's why we haven't "done anything" this off-season. Riley needs to lock him up first before he makes some moves to build a team around him.

This is flawed logic IMO. Wade is saying the right things but he also has said hes disapointed at the Heat's inability to get some help. If they can acquire a piece and Wade is already saying he wants to stay, that would easily be the clincher IMO.

He wants to win in the post-season and get beyond the first round. What if we trade for Bosh/Amare and lose in the 1st round. Then what? We need to lock him up before Riley does anything so he knows for a fact the pieces will stay and so he can continue to build around him.

Again, flawed logic. Doing nothing to keep your star in an attempt to keep your star is flat out retarded.

Riley always has his ways and works magic. So what if we add Bosh and we get eliminated in the 2nd round. D-Wade may say "Man, I'm staying in Miami" the day we acquire Bosh(for example). But then, we get eliminated in the 2nd round. He doesn't sign an extension and moves on, we're stuck with Bosh. Then what?

Lmao @ being "stuck" with Bosh.. if Wade is going to leave, hes going to leave.. acquiring a piece is only going to help the future of the franchise. Any of Bosh, Boozer, Amare is > Beasley and whatever else it would take. And you're likely not going to land any of these guys (Bosh especially) but we're talking hypothetically here. Wade definitely isnt impressed right now, I can guarantee you that.

No of course not, the chances of landing Bosh are unlikely now especially with what the Raptors have been doing. I just used him as an example. Of course he isn't, we've only acquired Q-Rich who isn't much of an upgrade or anything. I don't know what Riley has up his sleeve but it better be good. Maybe the departure of Beverley leaves room for Miami picking up a veteran guard unless Quinn plans to get a lot of minutes.

So they either land a great player, lose in the second round and lose Wade (still having that star)

Or they do nothing and don't keep Wade, and don't have that other star.

                        Don't see the logic there...

I was giving an example, but of course, some people don't seem to understand my 2nd round example. Riley wants Wade locked up before he makes a move. That's all.... If the time comes around trade deadline and he still hasn't signed an extension and the Heat are in contention for a good playoff spot(seeds 4-5) then he'll more than likely go after a player wanting to move. If not, he'll wait to the 2010 off-season to sign a star player to play alongside Flash. It's the waiting game.

Again.. going to the playoffs and adding a piece to build for the future with now is a lot more enticing than going to the playoffs and getting tossed in the first round. There was a good chance Wade was going to re-sign now if they grabbed some help, but Wade himself said he was disapointed they couldnt get someone (mainly Odom), so what makes you think he'll be more enticed to sign an extension now? Take off the home glasses bro.. this is just NBA business.

He is disappointed now since Miami didn't add anyone to their team. When we were linked to a Boozer landing and all the talk about how he(Boozer) likes Miami and would love to play him, that made Wade feel good and would've liked to play along side him. Then, we were linked to Odom and he was prob. going to sign and that also got him excited as he wouldn't stop talking about how he would love to play alongside him again and etc. But then those two never happened as Boozer is still in Utah and Odom stuck with LA, he's pretty much disappointed.
