They should just rid themselves and their owners of the WNBA, which cannot be making money and form a REAL minor league system and have it based in Europe. No, they won't be getting the top NBA stars but they'll be able to possibly get some very good players.

I want the minor league system too, so Stern can get rid of the retarded "have to go to college" rules and just let guys out of high school filter into this minor league system to be brought up when ready.

Seems like win - win for a lot of people. Save yourself the inevitable embarrassment of not getting consistent audiences for NBA regular season in Europe, stop forcing people to go to college if they don't want to, develop players for better transition into the NBA game and yet Europeans still get some form of NBA basketball.

If it's about the money this is a bad idea. To much money lost on travel, trying to make the time zones work (there'd never be weeknight primetime game). Hawaii's football team already has big enough problems with scheduling due to things like this. Plus it wouldn't take long for an American player to flat out refuse to go over there, a lot of them already don't want to go to Canada.

Stern's hardon for Europe is annoying. Give them an allstar game once or some throwaway preseason games but thats about it.
lol most Euro games are sold out when I see them in the Euro league . Kuzzy would agree (he watches it alot more than me) so it's not like there is no following . I don't think it would work for a variety of reasons though

And if you haven't noticed most North American sports have "hardons" for Europe right now .

I just think travel would be a mess. I'm not familiar with the time zones over there, but wouldn't teams get completely messed up by that?

I mean just using a quick glance it's 1:24 right now in New York... 6:24 p.m. in London. So would a team always need a day off before heading over to Europe to play their game.

I think it could work with the NFL schedule because obviously you have the whole week, but the NBA where you're essentially in a different city every day, that would just be a mess.

Also, I can't imagine too many players would be excited about playing in Israel or whatever, even if it is the NBA. You get guys that are reluctant to even go to Toronto, let alone Europe.

            UK = +5 , +6 , +7 , +8 for the respective US timezones
            Germany , Spain and places like this = +6 , +7 , +8 , +9

yeah and it sucks, especially in the NFL when they have regular season games outside the US. NFL teams only get 8 home games a year so taking one away is shitty for that team's home fans. It sucks for European fans but they aren't European teams. Giving other countries a preseason game or an allstar game is fine though. Europe can keep the Pro Bowl if they want it.

its a serious scheduling conflict...thats my only reall issue with it...... besides that if it will improve the quality of the game and expand fan bases.... and make the NBA a worldwide league i am all for it..... but i dont want a shorter schedule or less games because teams have to fly to Europe...

Canada is in the U.S now?

And lol @ unintrested in basketball .... the crowds for some Euro League games would suggest you are wrong (greece mainly)

It's a bad idea for many reasons ..... none of which being Europe being unintrested

Yeah, that's an absolute mess unless you have teams go on European swings where they spent 2 weeks there.

Again, those teams would be hard pressed to compete with other NBA teams for free agents. The money could be just as good but I doubt you're going to find a lot of NBAers waiting in line to start playing in Greece.

                        California - 4 teams
                        Texas - 3 teams
                        Florida - 2 teams
New York - bout to be 2

maybe take some teams and spread them out more before going overseas, i know they are the bigger states, but still, dont be stingy

so many areas for possible new teams

Possible in what way? I think they've got pretty much every large market in America covered. Las Vegas would not be a viable option for a consistent season-ticket base and no league wants to touch Vegas because of the off-the-court issues as well.
