For the first time in almost eight years, Georgia’s men’s basketball team is nationally ranked.

The Bulldogs are No. 24 in this week’s Associated Press poll -– the first time they have been in the Top 25 since the final poll of the 2002-03 season.

Saturday’s 77-70 victory over No. 10 Kentucky vaulted the Dogs (12-2, 1-0 SEC) into the poll. The win was Georgia’s ninth in a row, the program’s longest winning streak since the 1982-83 season.

Police say Abraham told them he drank vodka before driving to a fast-food restaurant, where he crashed a borrowed car into a parked vehicle in November. He has been charged with first-offense drunken driving and driving with a blood-alcohol content of 0.16 or above. That’s twice the legal limit in Pennsylvania.

Abraham, a sophomore from Paterson, N.J., has pleaded not guilty. A trial date has not been set.

Iowa point guard commits to UNC

Coach Roy Williams of North Carolina reached into one of his favorite recruiting grounds Saturday to gain a commitment from Marcus Paige, a 6-1 junior point guard from Marion, Iowa.

Paige, who plays at Linn-Mar High School for Coach Chris Robertson, also had scholarship offers from Kansas, UCLA, Iowa, Iowa State, Virginia, Minnesota and Illinois. Robertson said that Paige has followed the North Carolina program while growing up, but that Williams' work made an early decision possible.

Paige, North Carolina's first commitment for the class of 2012, is the fifth highly regarded recruit from Iowa that Williams has landed, after freshman Harrison Barnes of North Carolina and Raef LaFrentz, Kirk Hinrich and Nick Collison, who played for Williams at Kansas.

Everyone's favorite drunk driver Karon Abraham led the Colonials with 24 points (6-7 3PT) with 17 of them coming in the first half. Fellow sophomores Velton Jones and Lijah Thompson added 12 and 10 respectively.

Good game to start the four-game homestand as the Colonials notch their third conference win. MvP vs. Woy this Saturday.
