TAMU survived a scare vs Prairie View A&M tonight.

PVAM jumped out to an 8-0 lead, which prompted Mark Turgeon to clear his bench and do wholesale subs 3 minutes into the game. Ouch.

Later in the half, with the starters back in, PVAM went on another run, so Turgeon cleared the bench again. Double ouch.

TAMU went up double digits in the second half, before a big run cut the lead to 3. They ended up pulling away and winning by almost 30, but belive me, it was a lot closer than the score, and Reed Arena was a bit tense.

TAMU isnt very good. Not much size, no go to scorer, and they are in danger of missing the tournament for the first time in many years. I think they hold the longest current streak in the nation for consecutive years with a tournament win.

They were picked 6th pre-season in the Big 12. I can't remember who they have coming back right now, but I don't think they're that good either.

Complaining about the refs...before the game even begins, that's a new low, even by my standards of complaining about officiating.

Potential huge blow for the Blue Devils with Kyrie Irving's toe...might be 3-4 weeks, might be for the season. I'd let that thing REST...Duke doesn't face anyone worth of note until the tourney really...Smith slides to the point (his scoring seems to be affected when running the point) but he's been passing the ball well, leading the team in assists. Seth Curry, who's starting to come on will get more PT, and the best shooter in the nation, Andre Dawkins will log major minutes. Shall be interesting!

typical Scotty Hopson in that game though, he might score 30 or he might foul out with 6 pts on 3-23 shooting.

K-State scrapped out a game against Loyola today 68-60. We are a fucking ugly team to watch.

The Loyola student section did the overrated chant at the end of the game. Even though it was a win for us, it's probably true.

Robert Morris 90, Youngstown State 60

An absolute dismantling of the Penguins from Youngstown State. RMU shot the ball extremely well (57.4% FG, 54.2% 3PT) because their offense ran their sets to perfection and got a lot of open shots. Karon Abraham finally shook off the rust from his suspension with a game-high 26 points (8-12 3PT), with the addition of a foul shot on two of his long-range bombs.

Lijah Thompson added 16 (lolwut) off the bench, but this was clearly the best I've ever seen him play as a Colonial. His post moves were good, he wasn't shy at drawing contact and went up with a vengeance every single time. Something was possessing him tonight.

Velton Jones (15), Russell Johnson (12) and Yann Charles (10) all had double-digits for the Colonials. Walk-on Treadwell Lewis hit a three with a minute left that sent the crowd in a frenzy.

Next up, a trip down south to face Appalachian State next Saturday.

I went to the Texas A&M/Washington game yesterday, what a great finish.

TAMU up 1, inbounding, 30 seconds left, Washington has no timeouts and chooses not to foul. Isiah Thomas gets the steal with 6 seconds left, dribbles the length of the floor, and gets blocked at the fould line at the buzzer. Wild finish.

I though Lorenzo Bomar really blew this game for Washington. He sat his best player, Thomas (13 points in limited minutes), for sizeable chunks of the second half, including most of the final minutes. He didn't put him back into the game until there was 30 seconds left. I assumed he was in foul trouble, but he only had one foul. He didn't appear to be injured, because he made the great steal at the end and nearly won the game. Very odd coaching.

Oh, and as a sidenote, Mike Sherman was sitting by himself in a shitty seat, quietly enjoying the game. Then they show him on the big screen, and he got harrassed for autographs and handshakes to the point he finally just got up and left.

From the "nobody cares but me" department, LSU beat Central Michigan last night 59-55. Down 11 at one point, which is questionable, but hey, a win is a win.

Team has some depth, albeit young depth, but needs to establish their go-to guy. Can't have six guys scoring between 6 and 12 point. Really disappointed to see freshman PG Andre Stringer regress so soon. He was playing lights out at the start of the year but turned in a dreadful performance yesterday (0 assists, 6 turnovers.)

Someone has to nut up and become the de facto leader of this young team. Things are looking up, but it's more quantity than quality at this point.

IU played as well as Kentucky for 30 minutes, then fell apart for the last 10.

Diebler went bonkers tonight, hitting 9 straight 3s at one point.

Mizzou/Illinois was a great game. Very intense.

Mizzou is better off without Dixon, he sucks.
