Can he even sign to a team and be eligible for playoff play? Or is it too late?

its about time, now we can move on. I hear playoffs this year without Marbury who could of thunk it but just like the nets and suns the minute Marbury leaves the team quickly gets better and reaches the playoffs

Here's to hoping he's actually serious about wanting to contribute to a championship team in Boston..

Of course, he can't possibly be less useful than Tony Allen, Gabe Pruitt, Eddie House, etc.

And now the next drama with marbury. His number. The Number 3 is retired in Boston. And Marbury has a tattoo of the number 3 on his head and he wears number 3. Go figure

I highly doubt he will be a problem, he's not going to pull any shit. He still needs to prove he can play to get another contract, if he shows he's effective he will get another good contract from someone, I believe the Celt's are only going to pay him the Vet. Minimum. Plus he has a solid chance at winning a Championship, could possibly his only chance. I think its a great move for the Celtics, low risk on their part and hopefully a solid back-up for Rondo. If anyone is going to motivate him its definitely KG. Hopefully we get the best out of him?

Didn't realize Boston retired the number for some reason. That will be a problem with Marbury, yet he'll probally get a number with three in it it such as 13 or 33

Didnt Marbury want out of the Timberwolves because of Garnett, he couldn't handle being the second superstar there and now coming off the bench, thats a no no in Starbury's world

lol keep telling yourselves Starbury will be different, Celts fans.

We Knick fans said the same thing.

                        Suns fans before that.

                        Nets fans before that.

                        Enjoy him.

The difference is he understands his role, which is coming in as a scorer and playmaker off the bench. He understands this isn't about the big 3+Rondo+Marbury, which is different from past years when he was brought in to lead the team. Going to a winning team that doesn't necessarily need him is a great move for Marbury

Good post! Also Marbury is still young and if he wants to play in the NBA and get a nice contract from someone, he will have to prove himself. Low risk situation for the Celts. paying the veteran minimum and if it don't work out, cut him. And lets not forget the Celts didn't trade for him so they didn't give up anything. Low risk/possible huge reward!
