lol sounds like the Zen Master may want to experiment

Amid widespread speculation that Jackson is Dolan's No. 1 target for the job, one source close to the situation told ESPN.com on Wednesday that Jackson would likely be "fascinated" by the prospect of "how the Knicks' (current) personnel would fit in his system."
Phil Jackson has not had any contact with the New York Knicks about their suddenly vacant coaching job, according to NBA coaching sources.

Broussard just said on Mike and Mike that there was talk about trading Carmello Anthony for Deron Williams....D'Antoni wanted to do it, but other people in the organization didn't. The Knicks should have done it.

NYT reports D'Antoni asked to meet with Knicks officials and Dolan yesterday. He asked him to trade Melo but Dolan basically said hell no. So, he chose to step down instead of trying to coach him for the next month or two.

Finally, on Wednesday morning, D’Antoni asked to meet with team officials and with James L. Dolan, the Madison Square Garden chairman. D’Antoni asked Dolan if he would be open to trading Anthony before Thursday’s 3 p.m. trading deadline, according to a person briefed on the meeting. When Dolan said no, D’Antoni offered to resign.

The team characterized the parting as mutual, but the decision to walk away “was absolutely Mike’s,” according to a D’Antoni associate.

D’Antoni initially suggested resigning in a morning meeting with Glen Grunwald, the interim general manager, and Allan Houston, the assistant general manager.

The decision stunned D’Antoni’s friends, as well as the Knicks’ players, a majority of whom were loyal to D’Antoni and believed strongly in his system. Many were angry and disappointed, believing that D’Antoni may have been pushed out.

D’Antoni concluded that the continuing tension was hurting both him and Anthony and ultimately sinking the Knicks, associates said. With his contract expiring after the season, D’Antoni decided that it was best to sever ties now and let the Knicks determine the best way to maximize Anthony’s skills.

“I was disappointed,” Jeffries said. “I love Coach. He’s the best coach that I’ve had in the N.B.A.”

Jeffries and Stoudemire were among the handful of players who spoke directly with D’Antoni, who told them it was the best move for the team.

“He just said it was like the point of no return,” Jeffries said. “If he holds on much longer, we might never get out of this. We might be in a position where we didn’t make the playoffs, and he said he didn’t want that for us. He said as a team, we were talented enough to make the playoffs and make a run and that he really wasn’t getting through to us the way he wanted to.”

Kind of true, but not quite.

D'Antoni went into Dolan's office after practice yesterday. They had a discussion, D'Antoni basically said he needed security (see; contract extension) if he was gonna continue. Dolan said no, for obvious reasons.

Dinner's still on tonight, far as I know, Empire.

McMillan fired in Portland.....he's a good coach. NY should take interest.

I know one thing, we all wanted D'Antoni gone......now the lighting rod for blame is now no longer here

I would not want to be Carmelo Anthony if we don't turn shit around and not only make the playoffs, but make some noise there

Woodson is on a carpet ride right now, so he'll get no blame if the Knicks keep losing....he'll just get a thanks for trying

Knick fans will also have to STFU now too, because we wanted this....we can't bitch anymore about who's coaching this team if Woodson doesn't pan out and whoever replaces him also doesn't do well....I hope "be careful what you ask for" doesn't come to bite us in the ass

I hope La La has a firm shoulder to cry on at night cause Anthony will need it if he doesn't come up big

Carmelo wanted this - he wanted NYC, now he has to make it work. Both he & Amar'e better play on BOTH ends of the court, like Wade, Lebron, Rose & Kobe. No more excuses.

I wish the 'Linmaniacs' would STFU. They're not even real Knick fans, but bandwagoners. Pringles should never have been hired to begin with. He's a stubborn, overrated, gimmick 'coach'. I'm SO glad he's done - let him take his 'sissyball' back to the west coast.

It's not the first time a star player and his coach didn't see eye-to-eye. Magic, Bird, Jordan, Ewing - they pulled the same thing. Did they get the same hate Anthony's getting now?

People who bashed Melo forgot about Don Nelson's idiotic experiments when he coached us

Good win tonight, a lot of balanced scoring.
