Damn, who knows, maybe getting Big Baby won't be as bad as I thought. He looks a lot buffer, could actually be a decent starting pf.Comment

"Timing is everything. Chemistry is something that you don't just throw in the frying pan and mix it up with another something, then throw it on top of something, then fry it up and put it in a tortilla and put in a microwave, heat it up and give it to you and expect it to taste good. You know? For those of you who can cook, y'all know what I'm talking about. If y'all can't cook, this doesn't concern you." -- Kevin Garnett
Seems like he did a lot of eating during the lockout.sigpicComment

I think you guys are exaggerating Perkins a bit. It is probably more advantageous overall to be 6'10" and 260-270 then it is to be 6'10"-300. I don't think he will have any more trouble bodying up anyone. The only reason he was so heavy in the first place was because of his surgery.
We're not talking 50 Cent with cancer here.Comment

He was a pretty effective player for the celtics. To say he could turn out to be a top 15 pf next to Howard? Not that far fetched. Howard did make Hedo and Rashard Lewis look amazing next to him during their playoff run.Comment

Hedo and Shard weren't Howard's doing though. It was system-based. They routinely "went small" and played those 2 at PF and basically backed them up the three point line causing the Anderson Varejao of the worlds to come out and defend them which they couldn't do.Comment

Big Baby is a limited finisher around the rim. Shedding the weight will help with elevating but he really doesn't have any hops at all. Because of that he is gonna get his shot blocked a lot, so it's hard to ever envision him becoming a true frontline starting player. Great rotational guy, since he has some touch from the midrange and he plays hard, but I can't ever see him being a "top 15 PF".Comment

Considering the depth or lackthereof at PF I can see him being a top 15 PF, but I wouldn't want him as my starting PF. I don't see his additon making Howard want to stay. This is the problem with ORlando managment, as they make moves, but for guys who are either past their prime or limited in what they can do.Comment

So these guys miss some paychecks, can't afford to eat and now all look like small forwards... Nice work David Stern.I give rep not thanks

I can say with confidence that there are 25+ players I would rather start at PF. Like nahste said his inside game is weak, the majority of his scoring comes from catch and shoot midrange J's which he doesn't hit very efficiently to begin with. Combine with that an overall lack of athleticism and height that holds him back on D. I like him as a 15 mpg hustle guy off the bench but no way he's a quality starting PF just because he shed some chub.Comment

There's the top 19 in my opinion. To say he can be a better player than Humphries, Scola, Dave Lee, or Brand is not far fetched. To say he can be a decent forward starting next to the best center in the league right now, whose the reigning 3 time dpoy.
I'd like to see your 25+ pf list.Comment

Jason Thompson, Carl Landry, McRoberts, LRMaM, Blatche, Frye, Horford, Jefferson, Hickson, Monroe, Blair
After that players like A. Randolph, Hansborough, Gibson, Bass, Charlie V. would be close to him if not slightly better.Comment
