I never said he shouldn't have asked the question. The way he asked the question was shit.

Nobody cares about "Mr. Stern, break down the matchup we have here in the Finals". Please. You need to ask about the lottery, you need to ask about the Seattle situation, and if he hadn't been on my show since it happened, you need to ask about the Artest suspension and why he ruled the way he did which allowed Artest to return for Game 7.

This is so on point. You'd never get anyone at ESPN to ask these questions of Stern because there's a conflict of interest between the NBA and ESPN. They'd rather just sweep the relevant discussion under the rug in the name of shameless self promotion.

I can't stand Rome. I never understood the humor in his radio show with those idiot "Clones" calling in and making retarded inside jokes. The show was horrible. The only humor I find in Rome is when Frank Caliendo is doing his Rome impersonation.

Stephen A Smith has become a caricature......I use to like him, but he's pretty bad now.

My biggest beef with Smith as a radio personality is that I have no respect for his opinions outside the NBA. In his wheelhouse, he's good, because he has tons of sources and is a true NBA insider. But when I lived on the east coast and his show was on in NY, it was a terrible listen unless he was talking NBA.

I think he would be a great flagship guy for an NBA radio station. Which come to think of it, is the only league that doesn't have a station on Sirius/XM.

Rome didn't ask the question because he thought Stern would even consider saying "yes". He asked it because it should be asked. The NBA owns the Hornets and people wonder about these things. If anything, Rome set up Stern for the perfect opportunity to put it this nonsense bed and he failed epically.

Stern has a history of going at ad getting into a back and forth with radio announcers (Dan Patrick, Cowherd, Rome, etc) and this is what he did. Stern is a smart dude, and is much smarter than the guys who are interviewing him, and he knows it. Stern can come across as arrogant and an ass, but I really don't think he cares. Stern has been asked the question about the lottery numerous times and he generally gets a little annoyed, because he finds himself having to respond to conspiracy theories. In the end nothing that he says is going to change their mind, so why keep responding to it? By the way Rome asked the question he was trying to set Stern up and Stern caught on to it and blasted him. Meh.

It's a rhetorical question, everybody knows he isn't going to say yes, that's why to me I have no issue with the question or the way it was asked. It's designed to give Stern a chance to shoot down the conspiracy theories and explain how it works. Rome himself doesnt believe it's fixed iirc.

It's a question that has to be asked if you are to have any on air credibility. Stern was annoyed and handled it terribly.

When he first went national I liked Smith, because he seemed normal, but ever since being a regular on First Take he's become a caricature. I think it's just the way he speaks and how over dramatizes every word. I don't remember him being that overt with it. I agree he knows the NBA, but I prefer Broussard at this point, because he seems normal.

The both of you are smart enough to realize that there isn't anything Stern would say that he hasn't already that would change the mind of conspiracy theorist. This is part of the reason why Stern went at Rome the way he did.
