Kobe's thoughts on Lebron's Championship

It will be interesting to see how LeBron is viewed when his career is over. People were complaining last year after the Finals that he STILL hadn't won a ring, as if he were supposed to be winning rings with the mediocre Cavs before getting to Miami. LeBron has played on only two title-contenders in his career, last year's Miami team and this year's, and he won one title. So, in my mind, he's 1 for 2. Thats a good ratio considering the odds.
I think that even if LeBron wins 6 rings to equal Jordan, people will still say "yeah, but he had to go to a stacked team to do it"...similar to how people dismiss Kobe's rings with Shaq...as if Shaq was winning rings on his own before coming to LA.Comment

It's generational too. Our shows were always better when we were kids/growing up, our music is always the best, our athletes will always be better regardless of results. Most of us just happened to grow up during arguably the golden era of the NBA, so we're always going to put it on a higher pedestal because we have the justification to do that.
Warner mentioned in another thread that Ty Cobb use to say nobody but Willie Mays could make a roster in his day, which I think we can all look at as patently false but with the NBA we have trouble giving credit to today's NBA players because we all grew up in that golden age.Comment

Not entirely. Handchecks are no longer called and fouls are a little bit more touchy, but the increase (and legality) of zone defense shouldn't be ignored.Comment
