You read this post right?
He was the leader of Boston, and the most versatile player in the league at the time. He gets a bad rep because he 'sat at the three point line', when in reality it was because he had dumbass Rick Pitino as the coach to start his career. Then Jim O'Brien left the system the same. O'Brien's gameplan was let everyone sit at the 3 point line and chuck it. At the time, it worked because they were an effective shooting team. Hell, I even remember one fantasy season where Antoine Walker was #1 and Paul Pierce was #2.
His rookie year, the second best player on the team was David Wesley, with Rick Fox being third. Then he had seasons where it was Walker/Pierce/no one else.
Pitino made Walker his point guard, his small forward and his power forward every game early in his career because his teams were absolute dog shit. When he had legitimate teams, he posted 22/9/5 consistently while shooting a pretty decent clip from the three point line. He was the leader of the team during those ECF seasons vs. the Nets. You'd see a disengaged immature Paul Pierce in the huddle while Antoine Walker amped up the team night after night, including that game where they came back from 20+ down in the 4th quarter vs. New Jersey. If you can ever find the video, go watch it. You'll see Walker screaming at his team while everyone else looked defeated.
Yeah he was a knucklehead outside of his NBA career, and tailed off tremendously at the end, but it's not like that's not a common theme with the best players in the NBA of the late 90's/early 2000's (Shawn Kemp, Marbury, Steve Francis, McGrady, etc.)
Find me a 6 foot 8 power forward with the post moves, passing, dribbles and rebounding that Walker hadComment

As soon as Pierce showed up Antoine immediately became 2nd fiddle mostly because he refused to play like a big man, you can't claim he was versatile if he didn't use his versatility properly. Antoine was talented I'll give him that but everything was self inflicted, he thought he was better than he was, he never improved in fact he best year was rookie year and he just gradually declined because he settled and never improved his game.Comment

How was he not versatile? LOL
The guy could play three positions effectively in the NBA (PG/SF/PF), and he could run an offense as well as be a force on the block. The only players putting up his type of game were block players in Webber/Duncan/Garnett. All better players, but unable to handle point like Walker could. I'll ignore FT since he's on an agenda (per usual) since I smacked him around in the other thread, and he likes to groan my posts but doesn't groan the same exact one ATB posted. Loco's age already shows he just started watching them play once they got to the ECF. Typical bandwagoner.
So for the only logical person here (Senser), what part of his game wasn't versatile? He wasn't a great natural shooter, but that didn't mean he didn't have the talent to play all three positions throughout his career. Nowhere did I mention he was a shooting guard and should be shooting 30 times a game.
If you didn't watch Boston play night in and night out you really don't know how much he carried the team during their initial burst into the ECF. He was the leader of the team and the team rallied through him until he left.
It's no surprise people are results oriented. Pierce was an immature player until KG/Allen showed up, but no one will remember that because they only see him winning a title. Walker left and the team instantly went into the tank during Pierce's prime.
In fact, the team had to trade for Walker back after he went to the Hawks, and instantly the team went on a crazy run to make it back to the playoffs. Pierce needed someone to carry the team emotionally, and that was Walker.
All I've said was he was a tremendously underrated versatile player, and that he was the leader of the Celtics. Those two statements are true. I never claimed he was a HOF type player or someone who can carry a team night in and night out. Emotionally he could, but talent wise he needed some players to help him (IE: Pierce).Comment

The year the Celtics traded back for Antoine Walker:

Team goes 17-9 once he arrives they finish 1st in their division, and take an incredibly talented Pacers team to 7 games. They were 28-28 before he was in town. They were 36-46 the year before while Walker was in Dallas.
No denying his importance to Boston, but people will never get it.Comment

2. What agenda? I corrected a statistical mistake you made. I never gave my thoughts on Antoine Walker. I never labeled him as "not versatile" etc.
3. You seem to be bitching for no reason. What the hell are you blabbering on about?Comment

Don't be the typical woodshed FT we've known to hate here at VSN. You're trolling around groaning every post, which means you disagree with what I'm saying. And in typical FT form you can't counter statistics that I'm giving you, while simply resorting to 'I'm not talking to you!'
You need to stop surrending so easily and be a good little boy while you take your beatings.Comment

Clear now boy?
No "surrending" here.Comment
