I dunno what to think of this. I lean toward "god damn" than anything else.

I loved Kidd as a player. But, my issue is this...he hasn't paid his dues. You still have Brian Shaw and Patrick Ewing out there who have worked their way up, paying their dues as former players to become head coaches. Kidd is fresh out of retirement and he's a head coach? If this was any other team but my own, I'd pan it and laugh at the signing of a fresh out of basketball player being named a head coach.

Not the biggest fan...there was an opportunity to not sign a re-tread and a coach on the comeup.

Phil Jackson was never an assistant
Pat Riley was an assistant for 6 games before being promoted
Doc Rivers was never an assistant

Not sure how the whole "work your way up" thing is relevant here. He has league-wide respect and the respect of the Nets organization so why not?

Jackson coached semi-professional teams as well as some puerto rico teams and was very successful before getting his call to the league
        RIP

Because nobody knows if he can coach.

Yeah, I'm not sure what to make of this. I love J-Kidd as a player, but hiring a guy practically the day after he takes of the uni for the last time seems too risky for a team trying to win now.

              Bullshit.

Jackson was an assistant for 2 years under Phil Collins in addition to Puerto Rico basketball and CBA head coaching.
