The Bulls Would Be Championship Contenders if...

How is Noah a bust? I'm getting tired of hearing and reading this everywhere. He was drafted 9th overall and if you look at history not many 9th overall picks are doing much better.[ I know, I know some smart guy will point to Igoudala or Stoudemire as 9th overall picks and claim their better, but please get the point.]
Past the top 2-3 picks the NBA draft is full of guys who are role players jut like Noah. Every high draft pick isn't going to be a superstar. People make it seem as if Noah had these huge expectations coming into the league when almost every "draft expert" knew he wouldn't be anything more than a role player. At this point in his career Noah is doing what was expected of him coming out of college - 6 points, 7 rebounds and a block a game are decent given the crop of bigmen coming into the league today.
1. That pick was the Bulls pick through the Knicks as part of the Curry trade, having already taken Ty Thomas the year before and seeing his failures as a rookie the Bulls fans wanted to see the Bulls make a bigger splash at #9 and actually feel as though they got something good from the Curry deal. They ended up taking Noah. Which essentially was Ty Thomas with a few more years in college and less of an offensive game.
I know draft experts said Noah would be no more than a role player but even still the perception with fans is that with a lottery/top 10 pick you should get an impact player, not a role player. The goal is/should be an impact player. If the guy ends up being a role player so be it, but IMO you don't take a guy at #9 with the intention of him being a role player. That's what the Bulls did there with Noah.
Hard to sell that to a fan base who feels they are a legit post scoring threat away from being a real contender.
2. The pick of Noah didn't make any sense from a team needs stand point. The Bulls biggest problem since the departure of Curry had been the lack of inside scoring. Ty Thomas didn't solve this a year before and Noah, with an even more limited offensive game, definetly didn't solve it in '07. A player like Spencer Hawes was available and the Bulls passed on him. Hawes was the type of player the Bulls needed to score inside IMO and should have been the pick, especially with Wallace and Thomas already on the roster.
Essentially the pick was considered a "bust" by many as soon as Stern announced Noah's name because the pick didn't make any sense.
3. Noah has been a distraction numerous times and as much as he was brought into be a leader, energy guy in many ways has fell short. From arrests last season, to being out of shape for most of this year he just hasn't showed the focus and dedication you'd like to see from someone who was a top 10 pick.Last edited by FirstTimer; 03-25-2009, 09:40 AM.Comment

Yeah, wasn't he suspended for a couple games last year for, really, no other reason than everyone else on the team couldn't stand him? All I know is I wouldn't want that idiot on my team at all, much less give up a #9 overall pick for him. He's like TO without TO's ability.Comment

You know....the point that you're making My point made perfect sense, I just didn't read the 3 pages ahead of me before I posted....I agreed with you haha. So stop taking it out on the world cause Dad didn't hug you enough or something. You've really been a ray of light at VSN.
My dad may not have hugged me but it's made up for by the fact that I wake up every morning with your mom's face in my crotch.
I'd say it's more than an even trade.

So in summation:
You come into a thread. State something that has already been said as if it's new.
Then go on to try and mock the OP
Miss on your attempt badly b/c you include players they traded for and didn't draft.
Look like a jackass.
Nice job.

Come on Senser, you of all people should recognize hyperbole. I thought you would enjoy my joke thread, but I guess not.Comment

It ignores important factors like salary cap and team record that prevent a team from building such fantastical rosters.Last edited by NAHSTE; 03-25-2009, 12:07 PM.Comment
