lol.. I wanted to rub it in even more, so I looked up the stats for Kevin Ellison, the other safety at USC. You could argue Mays wasn't even the best player of those two.

Kevin Ellison: 8 games played (missed 5 games due to knee injury): 42 tackles, 1 interception, 0 sacks

Taylor Mays: 13 games played: 53 tackles, 0 interceptions, 0 sacks

Kevin Ellison ended up being a 6th round pick.

Also, lol at the idiots using number of tackles to judge who the best safety is. Under this logic, Gibril Wilson and Eric Weddle were the best safeties in the NFL last year. A high number of tackles is never a good thing for a DB, because it means they are getting beat in coverage on a consistent basis.

Taylor Mays is an excessively hyped up version of Aaron Rouse.

Or that's the corners job to cover the WR, so Berry getting 70 tackles means he is getting beat in coverage all the time? Then explain his 7 picks.

Not saying he's the best ever or in College football right now... But Major Wright can play.

Yeah Major Wright is my favorite safety in College Football, he hits hard and has a nose for the ball.

Tackles are never a good stat to judge players.

How does a high number of tackles mean they are getting beaten consistently, though? Mike Doss was an All-American on the nation's best defense in 2002 and the man led that team in tackles with over 100.

A lot of safeties (Including Mays and Berry) are so instinctive, quick, and take such good angles that they end up with a lot of tackles in the run game.
