Was Steve Williams disrespectful of the flag on Saturday?

While watching CBS's coverage of the AT&T National on Saturday afternoon I noticed the flags were US flags instead of the regular tournament flag. I thought it would be hard for me to resist the habit of pulling the flag out of the cup and dropping it on the ground if these flags were used instead of typical red, blue, or whatever color flag is attached to the pin. Some time later I noticed Tiger's caddy with the pin propped on his shoulder and the flag on the ground at his feet. I've not heard anyone mention it since and did not hear the announcers talk about its appropriateness or lack thereof at the time. I wonder, at Tiger's tournament, should his caddy have been more careful with how he treated our country's flag (although it's not his country)? Did anyone else notice this? If so, am I overblowing the issue? Is noone saying anything because it involved Tiger? Did other caddies / players have similar instances of treating the pin like they do on any other day instead of July 4?

Did this actually bother you or are you just trying to draw up discussion? If something like this bothered you, you're either WAY too patriotic.. or WAY too anal.

              I found it hilarious.

And it is just something you do in golf, because you don't want the flag flapping around while people are trying to put. Not to also mention, someone teeing off could think the pin is in. I call fail on the people who put the American flag as a pin flag and didn't think this would happen ahead of time.
All you need to know when thinking of the NHL vs Madden series is the two people involved in making the games.

              "rammer" and "cummings"

The NHL series is a giver, Madden takes the load.

yes its normal to put it on the ground but alot of course use American Flags on alot of occasions. Caddy should have held it holding the flag to the poll so the flag dont flap. Thats what we did when we played on Memorial Day

Caddy should've held the flag exactly as he always has and the fucking stupid "American patriots" should've got some perspective and shut the fuck up for once.

                      ^^

I know, like jesus christ, you American's bitch about fucking everything. Canada Day thread goes up and we get nothing but American's saying Canada sucks and we do nothing about it. Then something like this happens, and you want this caddy to be hung and made an example of, all because of a fucking pin flag. Seriously, you guys need to learn to pick your battles sometimes. There is being a patriot, and then there is just being an anal bitch.

I honestly hate it when any one puts up a resemblence of any country's flag on an object. It should stay as a flag, and a flag has its own place on any piece of architecture.

Putting the likeness of the flag on pin-flag is just plain dumb. Or matter of fact putting any flag on a sticker, coffee cup, button etc etc is just plain retarded.

The Flag Code - Respect for Flag
No disrespect should be shown to the flag of the United States of America; the flag should not be dipped to any person or thing. Regimental colors, State flags, and organization or institutional flags are to be dipped as a mark of honor.

                              (a) The flag should never be displayed with the union down, except as a signal of dire distress in instances of extreme danger to life or property.

                              (b) The flag should never touch anything beneath it, such as the ground, the floor, water, or merchandise.

                              (c) The flag should never be carried flat or horizontally, but always aloft and free.

                              (d) The flag should never be used as wearing apparel, bedding, or drapery. It should never be festooned, drawn back, nor up, in folds, but always allowed to fall free.

Bunting of blue, white, and red always arranged with the blue above, the white in the middle, and the red below, should be used for covering a speaker's desk, draping the front of the platform, and for decoration in general.

                              (e) The flag should never be fastened, displayed, used, or stored in such a manner as to permit it to be easily torn, soiled, or damaged in any way.

                              (f) The flag should never be used as a covering for a ceiling.

                              (g) The flag should never have placed upon it, nor on any part of it, nor attached to it any mark, insignia, letter, word, figure, design, picture, or drawing of any nature.

                              (h) The flag should never be used as a receptacle for receiving, holding, carrying, or delivering anything.

                              (i) The flag should never be used for advertising purposes in any manner whatsoever. It should not be embroidered on such articles as cushions or handkerchiefs and the like, printed or otherwise impressed on paper napkin or boxes or anything that is designed for temporary use and discard. Advertising signs should not be fastened to a staff or halyard from which the flag is flown.

                              (j) No part of the flag should ever be used as a costume or athletic uniform. However, a flag patch may be affixed to the uniform of military personnel, firemen, policemen, and members of patriotic organizations. The flag represents a living country and is itself considered a living thing. Therefore, the lapel flag pin being a replica, should be worn on the left lapel near the heart.

                              (k) The flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning.
