Brett was told, "we don't want you, you need to retire", really?

And where did you get your info from? Link to legitimate news article please? or are you making this stuff up? I call BS.

If I remember correctly. Up until the point Brett retired, TT gave Brett space to make his own decision and TT let MM keep in contact with Brett. NOWHERE was there any info on TT and MM telling Brett "we don't want you, you need to retire".

Now I'm convinced you don't know what the hell you are talking about. But I will give you a chance to post some legitimate source of your info.

Eh like i said before he has yet to retire, he has just taken the summer off like every other player, but since its Favre he has to make it into a soap opera. He needs to just retire, hes ruined how a lot of people viewed him, he is no longer the most "beloved" player ever. Before the Jets and this Viking situation almost everyone loved Favre(outside of Bears, Lions, and Viking fans). But now a lot of people are sick of him, and they see him as nothing more than a "drama queen" whos bent on revenge against the Packers for unknown reasons.

Last year when i heard he wanted to comeback my first thought was, "hey he fight for the starting spot", then when he said no i thought "get him outta here". Favre hurt himself when he was injured against the Cowboys, if Rodgers had not played in that game then i dont think Favre would have been out of Green Bay, but it is what it is.

I just cant wait to see Kampman and the boys go after him.

You just say that because you don't have any sort of attachment to a player of your favorite team like Packer fans do with Brett. The only other fans of teams that could ever go through this, are Colts and Pats fans.

I'm guessing that is where you got your take on the situation.

Brett is playing for the same reason that he has always played...because he loves the game. Just like any other superstar does though, he has trouble for walking away from it.
The comparison to Jordan is not the same. Jordan left and didn't go back and forth. When he said he was done, he didn't come back a month later changing his mind. It was a year or AT LEAST a season later.

Packers fly down to Mississippi to plan his return

The management must have told Brett it was getting to the point where he needs to go, and that coupled with the desire to heal, he retired. Yet he healed and then he wanted to play.
When has management controlled Brett's decisions? You're a fool to believe that. I'm glad they stood firm on their decision. In the long run its the best for The Green Bay Packers. We have a damn good franchise QB. And we could have jeopardized that letting Brett come back. Not that Aaron wouldn't or couldn't have stayed, but it would have definitely upset him.

For what it is worth, I don't think Rodgers was the reason the Packers sucked balls last season but TT still gets bad marks for the horrible way he handled the Favre situation. If the Packers don't look good this year, he is probably on the way out of Green Bay as well.
I don't think anyone thinks Aaron was at fault for last season. It was a collective poor season. Not to mention the injuries, but injuries are excuses.

Well then maybe you're not as big a fan as I am. I get attached to certain players. Not all, just the special ones. Brett was special. I would be a little sad losing Ray Lewis if he left my team...then showed up in Pittsburgh.

Don't even bother dude. Bill is a great poster in just about any topic not Favre. However when you do talk about Favre its like talking to a 5 year old unwilling to listen to reason. Not since GopherFootball's Peyton Manning cocksucking have I seen a poster ride a players dick soooo hard.

And for what its worth, my stance remains unchanged. If Favre wants to play. Go for it. I don't even care anymore. Let the man play if he wants to.

That said, Favre is a Viking now and I will wish the same on him as I would on any Vikings player which is pretty much the worst things possible. I relish the idea of the Packers ending his start streak.

The Packers or the Bears for that matter can beat the Vikings with or without Favre. I'm really not that concerned.

Anyone who thinks this guy can come in and give the Vikings a chance to win the superbowl is out of their minds. He is a choke artist. I have full confidence that the Vikings will not win the Superbowl nor get to it. Favre will find someway to blow it whether it be divide the locker room or throw 6 interceptions in a game--he'll find it.

I don't think you have seen much of what I have had to post on the Viking situation then. I was hoping for him to stay retired. I'm not on Favre's nuts either for thinking what the majority of people in most nationwide polls about who was at fault over Favre leaving Green Bay.

When was that poll? Last season Im guessing as I do believe a lot of people really did believe that. Run that poll now and I would almost guarantee more even results if not most people blaming Favre. Favre has shown his ugly side and I really think most people see it now and have had enough. A lot realize now that maybe it wasn't all Ted Thompson. Not to mention his support in WI is dwindling based on my experience being home 3 of the past 5 weekends. A lot of Packer fans still sympathized with Favre after last offseason. You should hear the way he's talked about now. Majority of Wisconsinites and Green Bay folk that I have seen and talked to are not pleased with Favre.

My biggest thing with you on this is while most of us others are willing to give and take and realize that neither side handled it well (yes I do think Favre has been more in the wrong but regardless neither handled it all that well), you are one of those Favre is holier than thou people who think he can do no wrong. You may deny that but anyone who reads your posts can see it.

Like I said, Thompson is no saint in the matter. But if you can't see, as bucky said, that Favre was clearly angling for this from the get go your completely blinded by your unhealthy love for the man. Favre for reasons that are his own, wanted out of Green Bay and wanted to play for the Vikings. He tried to talk his way out and play games with the media to get his way out. Thompson wasn't having it, which is smart. You don't willingly let a divisional rival have your QB. He was traded to New York and is now finally getting his wish.

You can try to throw it all on Thompson. Its actually funny to watch you do so because its so completely irrational. Reality is Favre put Thompson in a no win situation and Thompson didn't handle it the best but then again I'm not sure how you handle that situation any better.

Like I said, if Brett wants to play, I'm totally fine with it. He should play. I don't think he is playing for the love of the game anymore, hes playing for flat out revenge now but that's neither here nor there. I have lost respect for Favre as a person but not as a player. I'll always love him for what he gave to GB and hope the fences are mended quickly if he ever does retire for real. But if he plays for the Vikings this season, then this season I will treat him as the enemy.

I guess you could just say I'm more of a mature fan who understands players come and go. I enjoy watching Ray Lewis play football, but if he decided he wanted out I wouldn't care, because I am a Ravens fan first.....if a player doesn't want to be a part of the Ravens they are useless to me, so why worry about them? Its not as if they're my ex girlfreind or someting, which some fans make it seem to be. I wish them well, but that's about as far as that goes.
