For the longest time, I was an Eli Manning hater.
But he won his Super Bowl, he did it in a very clutch sort of way, he did it with all road playoff wins.
Eli Manning has nothing to apologize for anymore.

Its a lot of money but the Giants are obviously committing to Eli. This is what you do for you're franchise quarterback, you get him the big bucks and pray to god he doesn't have a career ending injury.

I'm not saying he is worth top QB money but I do see why the Giants would do this.

Bottom line is you can't just get a Top 10 QB any time you want. A guy coming off the best year of his career, with a ring, and in his prime is gonna command this type of dough. I'm sure it'll look like a bargain in a few years, just like Brady's contract and Peyton's contract probably looks like a bargain now.

It COULD look like a bargain, but to compare him to Brady and Peyton is dumb, its more likely that they will end up looking really stupid in a few years when Eli pushes out only mediocre numbers, but is still pulling down 15 mill a year.

Also he's not the highest payed player, thats J.Pep. Carson Palmer is also making more than Eli still.

                    Phil Simms.

Seriously though, at worst he's among the top half of qbs in the league, top 10 depending on who you talk to. If he can maintain that, the Giants will be in pretty good shape not having to waste a draft pick on a qb that's going to cost them at least that much annually plus a huge signing bonus every other year.

Dammit, must we go over this again. He still only threw 1 during the postseason and was as big a part of them winning it as anything else.

Wow. Some of you are really overblowing this.

This is the Giants' franchise quarterback. When you're placing that tag on someone, you're going to pay him top dollar. It's not a matter of if he "deserved" it (and I don't see how he doesn't, considering he won a Super Bowl, led the Giants to a 12-4 season, and was apart of the 3rd best scoring team in the NFL. 21/10 ratio is GREAT considering past seasons), but that this is what the Giants are paying him to remain as their guy. Come Palmer, Peyton, Brees, or Roethlisberger's contract year, someone else will be the highest paid player. That changes every year. No one else is going to be suddenly "seeking more money" just because Eli is the highest paid player. That's ridiculous.

Also, where's the logic of Eli being overrated? What the Giants are paying him has nothing to do with how he is rated.

that actually does happen a lot but we will know if that is true once Philip Rivers starts his contract negotiations.

Overpaid. The highest paid player, and he's not even a top 5 quarterback.

Won a Super Bowl against the then 18-0 Patriots, has gone to the playoffs four out of his five years, took the Giants to #1 in the NFC last year with a 12-4 record. Deserved his payment.

I'll say this again. It was Eli's time to get paid and the Giants are paying to keep him because he is the franchise quarterback. This is what the Giants are paying him to keep him. This isn't like the NFL is paying players and said, "Well, Eli Manning is the best player in the NFL, let's give him the most money." His contract was coming to end and you want to keep your guy happy. You never want a disgruntled QB heading the offense.

This is a guy who takes tons of criticism, comparisons to his brother, and the New York media, and despite that he has a Super Bowl ring to show for it. He may not be the top QB, but he is one of some of the best in the league and rightfully deserved his payment.

I can't believe he is now making this much. I thought he signed a fat extension last offseason?
