I watched a bit on this on Sportscenter, and they said he had an actual agent.

      Even Terrell Owens?

I don't care that we passed up on Crabtree because I have a feeling he is going to be a major head case and that is exactly what the Raiders cannot have right now. I like the Heyward-Bey pick more and more for that reason alone.

Crabtree is the better WR, no question about that, but the baggage that comes with him would not have been helpful to the Raiders whatsoever. So in that sense, Al Davis made the right pick (even though he probably didn't even mean to).

Honestly, I just think he's another over-hyped WR from Okie State(Rashaun Woods/Adarius Bowman). Everyone always falls in love with the big numbers they put up, but you have to remember the offense he's playing in and the lack of defense in the Big 12. So pretty much I just think he's a product of the Okie lite system.

Plus I can't think of the last Big 12 receiver who actually lived up to the hype in the NFL.

Mark Clayton hasn't done shit in the NFL, what are you talking about.

Good way to fight that "Primadonna" stigma you acquired prior to the draft and argued that you weren't.

Thats not his agent. His agent is Eugene Parker.. his cousin would be a real life version of like.. Turtle from Entourage.

now espn is saying that his agent is denying this story and that he and crabtree didint tell his cousin to say this.

Yeah, you still drafted the 3rd/4th best receiver 20+ picks before he was projected to go. DHB was still a horrible pick that early. Could of traded down at least 3 times.

                        Hmmm...

The NFL really needs to work on getting a rookie salary cap in place. The system works wonders in the NBA and prevents any of this bullshit from happening guys know exactly what their going to be paid from the moment their name is called. It's still great, secure money and if they bust their ass for a few years they'll make even more. I understand the lifespan isn't as long in the NFL and I wouldn't expect them to have a 2+2 system, maybe a flat two years then you're a free agent?

Either way, they really need to work on it because in my mind, it's out of control. Something like 12 out of the first 14 picks haven't signed... that's a joke. They are immediately lagging behind as their missing vitals parts of their first training camp as NFL players.

I think they should do what the MLB does where the team have control for a certain number of years and based on how they play is how much they can make the following season. Of course its not going to be easy to get the players union to pass anything though.

They always say stuff like this. Who knows how much truth there is to contract talks going poorly. There are always "poor negotiations" then the next day the guy is signed.

True, and I really hope Crabtree succeeds because he would be the first big time receiver from the Big 12 to do so. All the past receivers from this conference seem to have the same problem, too big of an ego to just leave at the door and always wanting to do things their own way.

And LOL at DHB still being a good pick at #7.

this is part of the article on yahoo sports...

Michael Crabtree is threatening to sit out the 2009 season by foolishly negotiating off mock drafts.

Crabtree has decided that he shouldn’t have to be paid less because – based on all the made-up, predicted drafts – Al Davis made a mistake. He wants to be paid more than Heyward-Bey, demanding his contract reflect that it was actually he who was the higher selected receiver.

                                It’s a ground-breaking, if intellectually bankrupt, concept.

Crabtree’s camp said Thursday that he is even willing to sit out the year and re-enter the draft next spring unless he gets more than the $23.5 million the Raiders guaranteed Heyward-Bey. The news was first reported by profootballtalk.com. Anything less than that stratospheric number is “unacceptable.”

so this guy and/or his agent are sying no matter what that crazy fucker al davis did he wants DHB's money or he will sit out? I hope al davis sees this and repsonds. wht is gonna happne when this guy sits out a whole year and then drops to the 3rd round? will he still want his 23 million then?
