I heard on ESPN radio that Sanders initially said that two teams had told Crabtree they'd pay him that money. And that is tampering. They were talking about the tampering issue on the radio so that's why I know I heard right.

But I highly doubt these unnamed teams are telling the Niners to tell Crabtree they are going to pay him X amount. Which means that those unnamed teams are having conversations with Crabtree. Again... that is tampering.

Here's where it looks like tampering if Deion is telling the truth.

The 49ers say no team approached them about trading for Crabtree. Deion claims two have done so and would pay him the money he's looking for.

Meaning.. these teams are talking to Crabtree directly. Crabtree's rights belong to the 49ers. You cannot negotiate with a player that belongs to another team, unsigned contract or not.

So either Deion is bullshitting.. or he's telling the truth and teams are blatantly tampering with the situation and probably making it worse by giving Crabtree the impression he's in the right frame of mind by asking for Top 5 salary.

I dont really think its tampering. I do believe that teams have been contacting the 9ers about potentially getting Crabtree. But why would these teams be asking about potentially acquiring him if they knew that they werent going to be able to give him enough money? That being said, Crabtree knows that other teams are interested and would be giving him the money, so he wants the 9ers to do the same.

Still you can't assume that. By Deion saying that Crabtree knows they'll pay him seems like a very dumb idea. It definitely makes it seem like he's talked to those teams whether that is true or not.
