Being slow will do that. After Mike Williams, no team wants to take a big financial risk on a slow WR.

this. anytime deion gets invovled where a player is trying to get money it never turns out good.

Mike Williams problem wasn't his speed. It was the fact that he missed meeting after meeting, and didn't really stick to the teams work out regiment.

why would any team give this guy 40 mil right now? he has never played an nfl down, he is slow, he is obviously bitch made... i hope the ignorant fuck sits out the whole season. In fact, if i was teh 9ers i would start offering teh guy a 1 million dollar signing bonus just so he doesnt sign.

oh, and if other teams told crabtree or his agent that they would pay him 40 mil, thats tampering, cut and dry.

Torry Holt was never fast, Tim Brown, Michael Irvin, many other HOF level WR's---all successful based on attributes other than speed.

I'm not defending Crabtree, but the NFL combine is an excercise in the ridiculous. The only people I question more than the execs who put tons of stock into it, are the geeks who actually watch it on NFL Network.

agreed that speed is not a defining factor, but rather a contributing one, but where has crabtree shown his other abilities besides college to desevre a monster contract?

Again, i'm not defending Crabtree. I hope they hold firm and he sits all year.

I just like taking shots at "draftniks" and combine geeks.

it would seemthat the geeks have crabtree's ear. i wonder which geek will pay him his money when he gets drafted in the 3 or 4th round next year?

How does it exactly work if he does sit out til next year? How/when can other teams draft him?
                        RIP HK, JJ

Its funny how before the draft in this contract dispute Crabtree by most was considered the overall #1 prospect and "can't miss prospect," but now he's slow, sucks and is Mike Williams. I guess contract disputes really can ruin the image of an athlete.

The 49ers own the rights to him so he cannot work out for other teams or talk to other teams unless they trade him or release him.

I am not even sure if he will be allowed to enter the combine next year or work out for teams once he re-enters the draft because I think the 49ers still own the rights to him until he gets drafted by someone else.

Hopefully someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

Was gonna say this. The same ppl saying "Charles Rogers" and "Mike Williams" were probably hoping their team drafted him 2 months ago. He was a can't miss guy, and he slid a bit in the draft and is now questionably holding out.

Still has the same talent though, people who think he's gonna bust like C-Rog or Mike Williams are crazy. He may be a head case but he's not a pill addict or gonna gain 30 lbs. like either of these two. Plus he's better to start out with than either of them.

Crab is handling his career really poorly right now, but funny how people who were all on his nuts before the draft are acting like he's damaged goods now.

Rogers wasn't a pill addict when he was drafted either. Stupid fucking choice of words on your part.

At this point he is damaged goods. This contract dispute is scaring people off thinking that possibly his motivation to perform is going to be gone once he signs that contract.
