Why was he holding? The Raiders (not that we're a great team) have Lechler (our punter) hold on to balls for field goals. I never understood why they had Romo doing it. . . what had he got hurt on that play or something?

Or if he'd ended his season even before that because he was doing something a backup or punter should be doing. . . If he's so valuable, he shouldn't be holding-onto balls for field goals.

Peyton doesn't do it, Brady doesn't do it, even Eli doesn't do it. Just saying.
He was holding because of Parcells' belief that the holder should be the backup QB.

When he took over initially, of course, he was the backup QB. And until that playoff game, he was damn good at it.

And there was no way Bledsoe was gonna do it.

It was only this year that Mat McBriar started taking on the holding duties.

^I understand he wasn't the starter initially, but what did they stand to lose by letting Bledsoe do it?

I never understand stuff like that. Like, last year, after Pryor took over, OSU wouldn't send that other dude in to kneel the ball. . . I'm thinking "He oughta be happy just to see the field, forget pride."

But, still, why not the punter?

Some people are under the impression that Tony Banks is indeed white.

Even the group at my work place, who are also african american, fail to acknowledge Tony Banks as black.

I even brought pictures to work, still a no go.

He was so fucking awful, no one wants to claim him. We all agreed that he's french and moved on.

Plain and simple, Bledsoe would not do it, and Parcells didn't want to humiliate his guy by forcing him to do so.

McBriar was a rookie (or 2nd year player, I don't care enough to double check) and a as a rugby player, had never done it in his life.

          There was no other option.

And again, Romo was good at it. Why make a change if it was working, especially when you consider the alternatives?

That was a game-winning 45-yarder (in December, BTW) at the Meadowlands mere weeks before that playoff game. He set it up with that long pass to Witten just before.

I know all about Tony Banks - You could send Tony Banks out to pick up superbowl tickets, and he'd find a way to fuck it up.
No I'm saying you could have put Ryan Leaf in there at QB and we still would have won that superbowl.

If Trent Dilfer was such a fuckin' great QB, he wouldn't have been released a month later.

I was at that game and so pissed, I remember we were our reds and it snowed that morning.. So pissed when this little motherfucker hits a 47 yarder at our place in December

But if you want me to make it sound better I can.

Romo has the 2nd Highest QB Rating in the league since he became a starter.

Romo has the best 4th Quarter QB Rating in the league since he became a starter.

That just totally OWNS your "hes new to the league" excuse.

Romo doesn't have enough experience to be called Joe Thornton.

Like Thornton he'll put up epic numbers in the regular season.

However becoming totally irrelevant in the playoffs has still yet to be proven. 2 games in't enough.

                                We'll see I guess.

Stars in any sport will raise their game when the postseason hits.

Tony Romo is 0-2 in the NFL, and was 0-3 in NCAA.

I just don't think he knows how to bring it to the next level when push comes to shove. Some players just don't get it and he very well might be one.

He was a star during his College seasons, winning awards and honours out the wazoo.....but playoffs = losses. Though I will admit, I don't know much of the story behind those NCAA playoff defeats.
