Did Manning re-open the MVP discussion today?

Peyton Manning has a pedestrian day before getting pulled against the Jets and the perfect season is now off of the table. Brees and the Saints fail to get it done at home for 2 weeks in a row. Chris Johnson has a decent game but is now very doubtful to break 2,000 yards. Favre has yet to play this week so it remains to be seen if he can have a good day against a Bears team that will be playing for pride.

Since Brees and Favre both have better QB ratings than Manning, the only real thing that Manning had was the perfect season to cement his MVP selection for this season. Maybe he still holds onto it but I think the discussion of him having locked it up after the Jaguars game last week (a position that I shared) is now looking to have been a little premature.

If Manning wins the MVP this year there will be serious discussions of him being the GOAT.

QB Rating = worst stat in the game.

He should be in that discussion regardless. GOAT now? Maybe not. At the end of his career? Definitely.

Manning had the 5th best QB Rating in the game last year and still won the MVP. Chad Pennington came in 2nd place and had a higher QB rating than Manning.

I'm not gonna bullshit. This is his year to win it all again. Today was proof that he is the most important thing to the colts. Granted Painter is a rookie and was pretty much thrown to the wolves.

This. He still has no chance at MVP though.

Manning locked it up today, especially with Brees and the Saints losing to the Bucs.

I should rephrase that, he isn't going to break the all time record which is pretty much what he would have to do in order to get MVP. Also, unless I am mistaken...the NFL MVP award has never gone to a player on a team that did not make the playoffs.
