Shariff... this was reported on a South Carolina blog.
I found it hard to believe at first, but if there was one coach I could see pulling a stunt like this it would be Meyer. First off, let me make it clear that I really like Urban Meyer. He is a schematical genious, he really cares about his players, and he wins. But I wholeheartedly doubt that he did not mention religion... just like I doubt that Ohio State doesn't negatively recruit. Think about it here folks. Urban Meyer talks all the time about how Tebow has made him such a religous person, etc., and he doesn't mention religion at all when talking to one of the nation's top recruits?
And quite frankly, I don't care if you aren't going to Ohio State, and a speak for a large portion of this fanbase. Would it be nice to add a 5* DT to the mix? Of course. But we missed out on several top 50 dlineman in 2007 and "settled" for Cameron Heyward... I think Ohio State's gonna be fine.Last edited by Sportsbuck; 01-15-2010, 11:15 PM.Comment

LOL at me "hating" Urban Meyer. When did I ever say that? I think the guy is a dirtball coach. That doesn't mean I hate him as a person or am hoping he dies on the sideline as you sarcastically mentioned in another thread.
I'm not jealous of a thing Meyer has done or accomplished at Florida. I have better things to do with my time than pine after championships another coach has won.
Jesus, anyone says anything about Meyers and you get a dick in your ass about and act like a fucking bitch and come rushing to his rescue "debunking" a story that whether it's true or not...and who gives a fuck if it is or isn't...doesn't change the overall assessment of Meyers of those who have an issue with the way he has built his program and with the type of players he has done it with.
Let it go and quit being such an oversensitive fag.
Florida football won't matter in 100 years anyways when the entire state of Florida is a swimming pool because of global warming.Last edited by FirstTimer; 01-16-2010, 04:01 PM.Comment

STFU.
Originally posted by blitzriqueYou are jealous of a successful program while your team blows and you hate Urban Meyer.
Again, I don't hate Urban Meyer. Keep telling yourself whatever you need to. Simply because I think Meyer is a dirtball coach doesn't mean I think he is a bad person or that I "hate" him. I have more important, evil people to direct "hate" at.
Quit being a fucking idiot.Comment

You thanked that post. Yeah, you thanked it because you disagreed with it.
Did I ever say I believed the story?
Because if it was true he would have been 100% correct in his post. I never came out and made a serious post on the subject because I know better than to put all my eggs in the blog basket when it comes to recruiting news.
If I felt strongly about it or believed it was true I would have come out and made a post saying so...instead I just clowned on the story.
Originally posted by blitzriqueThen you groaned me when I said we should wait for better facts. Yeah, because you agreed with me on that.
Originally posted by blitzriqueDon't lie. Own it. You believed some junk on a SC blog because you wanted to believe it. Then you threw a hissy fit when I found out it was made-up.
Good work Bugliosi.Comment

Originally posted by blitzriqueYou clowned on Meyer, not the story with anonymous sources.
Originally posted by blitzriqueI expressed doubts on the story before it was found to be shit, not you.
Again, quit being a moron.
Originally posted by blitzriqueYou agreed with that, and now you lie and spin. Just admit it and be a man.
Quit dry humping your cardboard cut out of Meyer and quit being a clown/wannabe internet detective. Stick to things you are good at like........well..I'm sure you'll find something.Comment

This is a man who told then UF committ Jevan Snead that he was recruiting Tebow as a LB.
He tried to tell Terrance Tolliver that LSU was bad academically and that they don't graduate their players. In addition, Patrick Peterson alleged that Meyer was part of the reason his ACT score was flagged by the NCAA, delaying his enrollment at LSU.
Many recruits have referred to him as the biggest negative recruiter they've had in the process.. Nu'Keese Richardson reference this as a big reason as to why he ended up at UT.
Is Meyer alone in negative recruiting? No. Am I biased in this argument? Probably, but I'm also a guy that has a ton of respect for Meyer based on what he's accomplished and him being a former Buckeye fan and holding a degree from tOSU doesn't hurt either. But Meyer's questionable recruiting tactics isn't exactly new on the street.. go ahead and google "Urban Meyer and negative recruiting" and have fun with it.Comment

Dont forget Florida has Andre Debose : )Comment

Given all of the past questions about Meyer's recruiting tactics, this was actually a pretty believeable story.

O shit...but I don't have a ton of respect for Meyer so I disagree with that! How can I thank a post I don't agree with????
OH NOES!!
I just gave my Meyer voodoo doll AIDS. Expect that to break on ESPN soon.Comment

Yeah, Urban definitely did flag Peterson's ACT score, because he decided to go elsewhere. It cost him the entire month of August and he didn't get to start right away as he should have based on his ability.
Meyer has a penchant for douche behavior, which is why this story was so believable. The fact that such a retarded story could even be close to sounding plausible is an indication of how slimy Meyer's recruiting tactics are known to be.Last edited by NAHSTE; 01-17-2010, 01:21 AM.Comment

I'm glad this is all cleared up, and Meyer isn't promising to die for recruits.
Now if he can just stop flagging opposing players' test scores, snitching on other programs, negatively recruiting, accepting players who end up using their roommate and teammate's dead girlfriend's credit card 2 days after she died, or reinstating players specifically for big games only to kick them off the next week (Marcus Thomas, anyone?), I'll respect his tactics as a coach, and actually believe he's a man of character.
That's not even mentioning the time I had to hear him speak at an Atlanta Alumni scholarship banquet for my sister (she's a UF student). After arriving 2 hours late, Meyer spoke for 1 minute about the scholarship, and spent the next 40 minutes breaking down each aspect of his depth chart, including a 5 minute rant on how good Cameron Newton would be, funny because Newton got arrested for stealing laptops about 2 weeks later.
Then, the whole crowd stood in line for another hour to get his autograph. Boy, I was thrilled. What a privilege it was to hear him speak.Last edited by NAHSTE; 01-17-2010, 12:39 PM.Comment
