I can't see Tennessee being too far behind as long as they're the recruiting power that they are now. From what I've heard Dooley is a good recruiter. They won't be great statistically for a while under Dooley, if ever, but they will still be very far ahead of SC, Vandy, and Kentucky recruiting-wise.

The State of Kentucky has black head coaches at all 3 D1 schools, why not Tennessee?

The only problem I can see, is that Tennessee pretty much has to recruit nationally. They have to steal kids from Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, Florida, etc.

It's really hard to do that without a good selling point, and I'm not sure Dooley has one other than his last name. But we shall see, I think he's a solid coach and has a good recruiting history. It just might not be good enough to succeed in a talent-poor state like Tennessee.

Especially with Saban locking down Bama and Paul Johnson continuing to emerge as a 2nd threat in Georgia.

Kiffin pissed a lot of people off with his brashness, but coaching at Tennessee is gonna piss people off either way, because in order to get talent you have to raid other state's resources. It will continue to happen with Dooley, but hopefully his methods are a little more diplomatic, if you will.

I wish him luck, because he's a former LSU coach and his dad Vince is a legend. But I think it will be an uphill battle in the Nat'l recruiting circuit for now.

My comment has more to do with a black coach taking over a football dominant school in the South. Sorry, but outside of Miami, how many of those coaches are in jobs where the football team is the schools pride?

So I can see an 8-4 or 9-3 season ahead. But, like any true fan of a team, I expect a NC! GO VOLS!!!!

You'll have a better shot vs. LSU then Alabama. But I think we're gonna get up for that one, seeing as how Janzen carJackson needs to learn a lesson. Btw, I hope he's happy over in Knoxville, and that his dad gets the coaching job Kiffin promised him. Oh wait...

What's said is Duke has a better coach than Tennessee, at least in terms of who the Vols wanted to hire.

Really? Cut actually has SEC experience, and almost won an SEC title at Ole Miss for the first time in 45 years. If Eli Manning didn't get stepped on by his lineman and fall down vs. LSU, they could have won the conference and he never would've been stupidly fired the next year.

I think Dooley is a solid hire but Cutcliff's candidacy should speak for itself.

I guess when guys choose powerhouses like Duke and Air Force over Tennessee, you have to start becoming delusional.

You beat a Willie Martinez coached defense, congrats.

I mean Crompton had these stats: 20/27, 310 yds, 4 TDs. Guarentee you that wouldn't happen with Grantham.

Also, Caleb King missed that game with a broken jaw/concussion and we didn't have any running game at that point of the season. We were a different team to end the season.

Plus, next years game is in Athens.

You beat us last year, badly, but I guarentee next year's game will be different

So yeah, no matter who the coach is of either team....the Vols will beat Georgia.
as bad as Tenn was last year, we were JUST as bad. The difference is we return 10 of 11 starters on offense and the one starter we are losing is Joe Cox. Our defense should be much better and we finished the year on a little win streak
