Odd. There's film and a stat line that showed him playing for Notre Dame. Odd.

I wasn't aware guys that didn't make the team could practice with the team for 2+ seasons.

Nah. That'd be your "dream" of one day making a decent post.

theres plenty of guys that played one play or were on the sideline for a year and never played in a game. who cares, you are missing my point entirely.

and I've already had countless posts intellectually superior and ground breaking compared to any of your second rate sports fan, lemming thoughts.

          How's it overdramatized?

It's based on the book (Which came about from an article written about a first-person experience by a newspaper writer). There are some differences of course (I.E. Boobie actually tore his knee up in a scrimmage at Texas Tech, the Dallas Carter game was a 14-9 loss in the state semis) but you ge tthe drift.

            Not the point.

His dream was he got to campus was to play for Notre Dame. He did. Mission Accomplished.

My point is that his dream was realized...when you are saying that it wasn't. Clearly it was.

He was on the team... thats kind of what the whole walk-on tryout was for.

He was 5'6, 165 pounds and he played nose tackle against some of the best offensive lineman in the nation everyday (The year before Rudy was accepted as a student ND won the national title). And in the end he's in the history books as having a sack at the University of Notre Dame. How many people can say that?

which makes it an interesting but melancholy movie. What i want from a sports movie is someone in the actual heat of battle and win or lose it is some how poignant or interesting. A practice squad player who never improves enough to get a real chance doesnt inspire me.

this should probably be 10 best sports movies because I doubt there are 10 decent football movies up to this point.

And Rudy is absolutely a football movie. Imho, the best sports movies aren't necessarily about the sports themselves but about the people who play them.

Radio is a bit manipulative but I really do like the movie.

Anyhoo, I've already copped to not seeing North Dallas Forty or Everybody's All American and a few others mentioned here, yet. I will. In the case of the former I plan on seeing it very soon since this keeps coming up.

opnce you become an adult, movies about high school kids really are pointless.

especially when they try to paint them as smarter or more interesting than the adult characters around them.
