The Jets All-Pro corner won't face Moss until Gang Green play the Patriots next season, and who knows if he'll ever go toe-to-toe with T.O. again, as the Bills' soon-to-be free agent needs to find a team for 2010. But Revis has guaranteed there will be controversy leading up to those matchups after calling out both receivers in a recent interview with Deion Sanders on the NFL Network.
When Sanders asked Revis to play a game of name association using some of the game's top receivers, the Jet corner didn't hold back.
T.O.? "Slouch."
Randy Moss? "Probably say slouch, too."
Revis, who got my vote for defensive player of the year in the Associated Press awards balloting, was not thrilled when Moss downplayed being put on Revis Island in Week 2. Moss made just four catches for 24 yards, claiming Revis had help over the top. The Jets were not pleased when Tom Brady tried to hit Moss with a deep pass against Revis in the final minute in November with New England
up by 17.
When I asked Revis about his "slouch" comments the other day in the Jets locker room, not only did he not back off his words, but said he was angry because he felt he didn't get Moss' and Owens' best.
Did they give up against him?
"That's what I am saying," Revis said. "I'm all about competition. You got to play 60 minutes."
Was he disappointd they didn't?
"Yeah," he said. "You got to play 60 minutes if you are going to play against us. You can't sit here and play 45. It doesn't happen like that. You got to compete. That's is what it's about. When you're not competing - come on now. Let's compete. If they score five touchdowns on me, I'm going to give him his respect."
Revis gave respect to Chad Ochocinco, calling the Bengals receivers a "competitor," and the same for Smith. And he called Johnson a "beast."
