Northwestern
Purdue
Ohio State
Michigan
Michigan State
Indiana
Penn State
Pittsburgh
If they do things geographically it would look like this, but I can't see this happening, 4 of the top 6 teams in football would be in the Ohio state division.

Normally I woudln't post rumors like this... but for the purely hilarity of Jhammack and Pitty having to defend the B10 in the future I am going to.
Pitt supposedly informed thier scholarship athletes that they will be moving to the Big Ten, and the athletes put it up on twitter, then were told to remove it minutes later.

Like I said before if this goes down, it's better for Pitt sports simply for the Football aspect of it. Pitt gets into a conference with stability and a conference that won't get raided every year.
Plus Pitt will still keep it's biggest rivalry with WVU, so it doesn't upset me like that. Basketball however, doesn't make a lot of sense. You leave the "sec" of basketball for a lower level (Power) conference.
Pitt being 5-7, laughable. With teams like Minnesota, Purdue, Northwestern.. etc. Pitt will continue to get better and Wannstedt/Cignetti are really putting together some great recruiting classes. If Pitt does indeed move to the Big 10, their recruiting will get better. Not to mention, they won 10 games this year and will a lot of that team back... Sorry but that doesn't make too much sense.
I don't necessarily hate the move. If Pitt doesn't go to the B10, they get screwed in the football sense. Eventually a team was going to be taken, Rutgers/UConn. Then there is talk about another ACC expansion, so that's an even more likely hood more teams from the Big East are going bye bye. So It's a good move, because it moves to a more established conference that won't get raided like the Big East.
I like the move because it finally makes Penn State play Pitt and stop being a pussy. I think that'll become a great rivalry again.
The Backyard Brawl won't go anywhere. Unlike Penn State, WVU will continue to agree to the game as will Pitt. They will more than likely, always play.Comment

it's just a massive mistake they dont get ND. Not a slight against pitt but that school does not excite me as a big ten fan. missouri doesnt either. Nd, syracuse would be much better for the conference than pitt or mizzou. ND is making a poor financial decision by not trying to ge in the big 10.
Here is the annual TV revenue for each conference as reported by ESPN’s Outside the Lines last month along with the average for each school:
* Big Ten: $242 million ($22 million per school)
* SEC: $205 million ($17.08 million per school)
* Big 12: $78 million ($6.5 million per school)
* ACC: $67 million ($5.58 million per school)
* Pac-10: $58 million ($5.8 million per school)
* Big East: $13 million for football/$20 million for basketball ($2.8 million per football school)
In 2008, NBC ponied up an extension to the Fighting Irish television contract. USA Today reported that the current contract paid Notre Dame in the neighborhood of $9 million per year. The new deal won't begin until 2010, but it's doubtful the rights fees increased very much, since Notre Dame's television ratings have been dwindling for several years. (Last season, the average Notre Dame game on NBC drew less than half the ratings that CBS and ABC averaged for their college football games.) The new NBC deal only covers eight Irish games a year (seven home tilts plus one neutral site game),Comment

Definitely. The other mid-majors haven't done shit.
Certainly. Boise could end-up in the P10, or if the MWC expands to 12 first, they might end-up there...Comment

Ah, god damn it. Another team better than Indiana in every sport. I hope they set up the Big 10 like this:
Ohio State
Michigan State
Michigan
Penn State
Pittsburgh
Wisconsin
Minnesota
Iowa
Illinois
Northwestern
Purdue
Indiana
That way, the best teams are all in 1 conference

What's funny is that could be the way it works out. Well probably not Wisconsin in the same group as Penn State/Pitt/OSU/Mich etc. However, I don't think I like how that is set up. One side, like the Big 12 has by far the best 2-3 teams in the conference, where the other side gets a pass and gets teams like Northwestern and Purdue.Comment

Also, having Penn State, Michigan and OSU in the same division is bad IMO. I know Michigan is just ok right now but we'll be back and having all three of those teams in the same division wouldn't be good.Last edited by mgoblue2290; 01-31-2010, 05:18 PM.Comment
