The Big Ten actually invited ND to join the league about a decade ago.. their faculty unanimously voted to join but the Board of Trustees turned it down.

while i agree with yo on why notre dame wont i do have to take issue with your "sec of basketball" when the cream of the crop of the big ten michigan state has taken big east teams to the woodshed when it counts in march the previous 3 years. and 2008 being the only of the last 3 years the big east had a better tourney record.

I'd LOL if after the Big East gets raped of it's top teams if ND joins the BE for football and takes the autobid every year for the BCS money.

The Big East had 4 teams in the Elite 8 last year. Two of which went to the Final Four. Yeah Michigan State has had some success, but that doesn't mean the conference is better because 1 team had success. Not to mention the Big East had 7 teams in the tournament, 4 out of 7 in the last 8. That's impressive. If I'm not mistaken, the Big 10 had 4 teams in the whole tournament.

they had 7 and if you look over the last 10 years the big ten has sent a team to the final in 5 of those years (2000, 02,05,07 and 09) and 2 of those years they represented half the final four (2000 and 2005)

I like Pitt joining, but I was pretty sure it would be Mizzou. Then I saw TCU going to the Big XII, Boise State and Utah to the Pac-10, etc. Now it looks like the Big East will have to realign. Also, what about a new name, or do they stick with Big Ten?

So it will probably look like:
                    West
                    Iowa
                    Indiana
                    Illinois
                    Minnesota
                    Northwestern
                    Wisconsin

                    East
                    Michigan
                    Michigan State
                    Ohio State
                    Penn State
                    Pittsburgh
                    Purdue
"Arrive, Raise Hell, Leave" | Kentucky Wildcats
                    2014 Season: 11-2 (7-2)
                    Next Game: Bowl Game

Okay I went and looked and they had 6 I think. However, out of those teams Michigan State and Purdue were the only 2 teams to advance into the Sweet 16. The Big East, had 5 and 4 of which went on to the Elite 8, and UConn beat Purdue in the Sweet 16 leaving 1 Big 10 team.

If true, I'd like to see a setup like the following...

                          Division A
                          Michigan
                          Ohio State
                          Illinois
                          Michigan State
                          Iowa
                          Northwestern

                          Division B
                          Penn State
                          Pitt
                          Wisconsin
                          Purdue
                          Indiana
                          Minnesota

Relatively balanced and can make the last week of the season before the Conference Championship have some good in division rivalry games.

+1... A better division than some of the others I've seen proposed. I just want Penn State/Pitt.. It's long overdue.

Aside from my really retarded divisions, here's my actual proposition:

                              East
                              Penn State
                              Pitt
                              Illinois
                              Iowa
                              Indiana
                              Purdue

                              West
                              Ohio State
                              Wisconsin
                              Michigan
                              Northwestern
                              Minnesota
                              Michigan State

Only problem that I see is that Indiana-Illinois is a pretty big rivalry. For us, at least. We usually have pretty balanced teams, and with the whole Eric Gordon shit a few years back it's gotten more intense
