Since nuk seems to be the Martz guy, few questions for him (or anyone really)
1. How many step drops do Martz QBs usually have to take? Like Grizwald said, I'm just concerned about the pass blocking this o-line is going to have to do.
The Bears ran primarily west coast last year, quick pass stuff and people were destroying Cutler.
2. How complex are the routes? We have most likely the dumbest receiving core in the league. Knox, Hester and Bennett could barely learn Turner's playbook... how are they going to handle a Martz playbook?
I'll hang up and listen for your answer.Comment

It's not like Shaun McDonald almost broke 1,000 yards in Detroit, with Martz as OC. Of course, Shaun did have more time to work in Martz's system, being in St. Louis, too.
I'd be more concerned about the line, though.Last edited by Nukleopatra; 02-01-2010, 04:12 PM.Comment

2) I don't think this should be that much of a concern. Knox was only a rookie, so some mistakes are to be expected. Aromoshudu (sp?) basically picked up Turner's offense in 5 minutes. Hester is a lost cause no matter what the offense is, but I think Martz will figure this out and utilize Hester accordingly. I don't think the Bears are really married to any of their dumb WRs...they could get rid of every single WR and bring in new guys and it would not concern me.Comment

draft smart receivers in the later rounds and let them blossom under the tutelage of Martz. I like the move, think it's a no brainer fit.
But Matt Forte must be wherever he is right now.Comment

In 2007, Jon Kitna was 6th in passing yards, throwing for over 4,000 yards, he was sacked 51 times. Jay Cutler was sacked 35 times in 2009 - is your o-line really worse than the 2007 Detroit Lions? I don't know jack shit about the Bears, because up to this point, I refused to follow any Jay Cutler lead football team.Comment

Maybe if Forte didn't average 3.5 yards a carry and fumble every second week Mike Martz wouldn't a have needed to be bought in.Don't Sit Down 'Cause I've Moved Your ChairComment

If the Bears had an Orton or Grossman in there last year they would've been sacked 50+ times easy.Comment

1) Legit concern. At least Martz knows what he's doing and has gotten results at "weak line" places like Detroit and (to a certain extent) SF.

I don't think Hester would ever be "rid of" because Angelo doesn't want to be made into a retard. Hester to WR was his idea. Lovie and the rest of the crew were more than happy to have a top-tier returner. Angelo always wanted Hester to be a top-tier WR. FAIL.Comment

The 2008 Kyle Orton was only sacked 27 times.
Again, is your line really worse than the 2007 Detroit Lions?Comment

I told you Jay Cutler will become your new Kurt Warner, Nuk. This is the first step in the process.Comment
