Not only possible, but at this stage in the game, most are calling it highly likely. Playing football in 2011 seems to be the thing that's "possible" at this moment.

I just wanted to expand upon my earlier statement by clarifying where the major conflicts are:

      1. Owners feel they gave up too much to the players the last time they extended the CBA. Owners are saying that they're pretty much in the same situation they were a few years back, with little to no increases in profits. So all of this revenue is pooled up, and a certain percentage goes to the players, while a certain percentage goes to the owners. The owners want the players to take an 18.5% reduction from that revenue, and of course the players think that's ridiculous. Moreso, they think the owners are lying (or greatly exaggerating) about their lack of profits, and want the owners to open up their financial books so that the players union can verify these claims.

      2. The players union does not want a salary cap in the new CBA...not sure how the owners feel about this one.

      3. While the owners and players fight, the owners are actually arguing amongst themselves. Owners of the more popular teams are not happy with the amount of revenue they have to share with the less popular teams.

Years from now, we will remember Roger Goodell based on how he handles the upcoming negotiations. St. Francisco really outlined the main problems. It is scary to think, but I do think it is probable.
