I hate to admit it. As a UNC fan who loves the simple Carolina Blue & white uniforms, I'm not much on alternates for them. I loathe the navy blue stuff they wear now. But I do like that helmet. Now let's see if I can take the rest of the ensemble.

not really. It started in 2007. We started off pretty bad record wise. We needed some energy to turn the season around.

After a 35-7 loss to Tennessee and a narrow victory against Vandy, we stormed the field against Florida and danced after first score. It gave us an edge and we won that game. Then the next week we pulled off a blackout and blew out Auburn. The game was crazy. Then for the bowl game against Hawaii, the Seniors asked if they could wear them. Since they wore them they were part of the bowl package and they got to keep the uniforms. We went on to blow out Hawaii 49-10.

Most UGA people thought they were a good luck charm. So in 2008, we pulled them out against Bama. The crowd was crazy but we came up short 41-30.

Most UGA fans at this point were thinking we had overused the black jerseys (three times in two years).

Well last year against Florida the seniors asked Richt if they could wear them. He agreed but if you look, most Georgia fans (myself included) did not like the jerseys that game.

But, in all 4 games, the Seniors were the ones that asked Richt for them. Not the other way around

The main thing it creates is the atmosphere. If anyone has watched a home blackout game (not Florida game. that was stupid to do at a neutral site) then the atmosphere is crazy and the players and crowd is pumped.

The Alabama and Auburn games were two of the loudest games in Sanford history. The only time I can remember it being as loud is the 2004 LSU game.
Go figure, at most schools, the crowd and players don't need a gimmick to get pumped. Playing for a lifeless personality like Mark Richt though, I guess you need to dress up every now and then.

that is one of Richt's biggest faults.

That is why we need coordinators that are fiery and can get us pumped.

Van Gorder was that, Willie Martinez was not. Grantham should be like that.
