Interesting. Will they be rotating backs more with Jones, Smith, and Brown/Morris, do you think? A strong running game could help Stafford come-up quick. His rookie season wasn't terrible, and a presence on the ground could only help.

Jones won't even touch 1,000 yards.

yes you probably are. These are front loaded contracts in a non cap year and the players are stop gaps til the team can fill the needs via draft. Unlike the bears the lions are spending to help take pressure off the young guys by putting them with vets (not a fan of burelson signing) chicago is trying to win this year or that staff will probably be out on the street. Both are players that the coaches have coached before vb schwartz, and burelson with linehan

Take his younger brother too. Well give him to you for some Pistons championship gear or a replica Kenny Rogers Tigers jersey.

Who else are we going to get? We're not shelling out a lot of money for guys that can secure the team up for a few years. Or we could go sign a 25-year old whose skill level is far below that and will get buried in the depth chart by Week 6. If there were other options out there, I'd agree, but we have to take what we can get.

yes it was cleared up in this thread that it was just speculation that some people ran as fact.

Schwartz came out today and said not to expect any more "big" signings

The only thing the lions have a shot at winning is the offseason.

someone needs to edit this thread title to allude that thomas jones is not a lion and most likely will not be in the future.

If the New York Jets want to re-sign Thomas Jones, they'll need to out-bid the Kansas City Chiefs.

Adam Schefter of ESPN is reporting that Jones will visit Kansas City on Monday.
I guess the Lions are letting him negotiate with other teams....
