Maybe he should carry the pads of a different position player.

People say they want veterans to mentor younger players, but in order for that to happen, the veterans have to respect the younger players. How is Dez Bryant earning anyone's respect on the team by saying that he doesn't have to go through the same hazing that they all went through and that he is the same as a free agent (as in, someone who has already done something in the NFL and earned the contract)?Comment

Yes, he's started out fine for the Cowboys, but clearly this is the first of what is likely to be a ton of boneheaded moves by Bryant.

Let's be honest - Dez couldn't spell cat if you spotted him the C and the T.

Here's a question for the "diva" crowd; if this guy was such a diva, why did he sign his rookie contract for well below what he was "rumored" to be asking for when his agent was the same guy who helped Crabtree holdout?
For that matter, why was he the first 1st rounder to put ink to pen?
I tell ya, that guy's nothing but a troublemaker and a team cancer. TO Part Deux.

"Free agent" is in reference to being an UDFA, not a guy with experience from another team.
Dave right on schedule with a boneheaded comment.

Dez Bryant comes across as an ass by not accepting the rookie hazing.
All-time NFL greats have been through it.
Simply carrying a vet's pads should not be a big deal.
If they're shaving his balls, making him run naked through a gay bar, I understand...
All Williams said was respect the code, carry my pads.
The greatest players of all time have done it, Dez Bryant can too.My Twitch video link: http://www.twitch.tv/dave374000

Here is a Q &A with Roy Williams after practice regarding the Dez Bryant hazing controversy:
“Everything is good. You guys just want to pin us against each other, from the first day and it’s not going to happen. You can try again today and try again, but it’s not going to happen.“
On if he was upset about him not carrying the pads:
“I was never upset, watch the tape. I was never upset about anything. He doesn’t have to take the pads, and we have talked about it.”
On if he and Dez have talked about it:
“He wants to concentrate on football, and we’re going to let him concentrate on football. But when we go out to eat, I’m going to be a little bit more hungry and thirsty.”
On if it is an issue of disrespect:
“The guy wants to do his thing, let him do his thing. Everybody has done it before, but if he doesn’t want to do it, he doesn’t have to do it. Not a big deal, not football related.”
On if Coaches have talked to him:
“We have talked, but it’s not a big deal, and it’s really not. I don’t know why everybody is making it a big deal. You say it’s Roy versus Dez, but that’s not the way it is.”
On if it’s all in fun:
“It should be, I had to do it, and I was the seventh pick. It’s what you have to do, but if you don’t want to do it, it’s not like I’m going to put a gun to your head and make you do it. It’s not a big deal.”
In a good nature are you saying he will pay:
“No question, like I said I will be a little more hungry, I might take my 10 family members that are here out to eat when we go out, and we will find a way, we will find a way. Maybe we can get him to take the pads one day.”
So who is going to carry the pads today:
“Maybe my son , he is here, I would rather have my son do it.”
I'm taking suggestions for tomorrow's ESPN headline from San Antonio if anyone wants to throw in.
I'm thinking something along the lines of "Locker Room Disaster - Dez Bryant Farts a Mere 20 Feet Away from Tony Romo"

He never should have made this public in the first place.
That said, Bryant should have just carried the damn pads.My Twitch video link: http://www.twitch.tv/dave374000

But I agree this whole incident was blown way out of proportion.
