Clearly. But I just picked random guys who had good numbers from the modern era. I don't think anybody but T.O. thinks he's the greatest ever.
Biletnikoff is just there for the homer pick.
I figure if you can argue QBs, you can argue this.
(Btw, my bad for forgetting Lynn Swann, Chris Carter... Marvin Harrison, Andre Reed... etc... It was 2 in the morning, but that's no excuse.)Comment

2 of these 3 were borderline HOFers, and Carter wasn't even the best for a single season while he was in the league...Come on MAAAAANComment

Don't know enough about your "football savvy" to say, but the fact that you used the phrase "football savvy" gives me cause for thinking you only think you have it.Comment

all are career statistical leaders compared to the majority. Had great long carers and great single seasons. You discount too easily.Comment

You are the least intelligent poster I've ever seen based on your writing ability and use of syntax/grammar.

football savvy = just a slang term, try not to over think it.Comment

It speaks volumes of how great Rice was that its almost impossible for an average guy to put a top 5 list together without googling or just naming randoms from there current era.
Alworth , Largent , Maynard , etc...those guys arent in the same stratosphere with Rice.
The ironic part is the late 80s-90s did in fact have significantly better athletes at the position that previous eras. Guys like Hutson have much bigger gaps between he and the next man in his era.But Rices gap between he and the next WR all time is huge.
Randy Moss is weird. Hes the most dangerous weapon Ive ever seen at WR.If you poked me hard enough Id say hes the best weapon on a football field since Gale Sayers. Hes been the catalyst to the 2 highest scoring offenses of all time. QBs have career years and MVP type seasons with him. Arguably 2 of the greatest seasons a WR has ever had.
Yet knowing his talent and obvious ability , his numbers are a letdown and his overall career is easily overshadowed by peers.
You extract his brain and put him in an all time draft. Im not sure he wouldnt go number 1. But when you take into account his personality thered be 5-6 guys this era alone id take ahead of him.
Only player I can name that can legitimately rank no.2 or number 20 and still be perfectly rated on an all time list.Best reason to have a license.

There are a few unquestioned truths in sports, just a few, and Rice being the greatest WR of all time is one of them.
Just like Ted Williams is the greatest hitter of all time, the Beatles are the greatest band of all time, and Coke is the best soft drink, Jerry Rice is the unchallenged GOAT at his position.Comment
