But oh well it's just the first episode.
So who were the characters outside Ochocinco last season?

They had Rex, Bart, Kris all barking and funny interplay from GM Mike, Namath & Sanchez

Plus a nice ass TD catch from Holmes although watching Namath call him out in the practice room for not running a route out (albeit, it was training camp as Namath himself brought up) to the best of his ability was interesting.

Plus, I didn't know the FB draft pick was a Rex Ryan personal choice. Interesting. Now, I will assume Tony Richardson makes the team...but what happens with Terminator?

Edited because I'm stupid and thought John Connor went to Notre Dame for some reason....

Lacking characters? How about the rookie fullback who demolished Calvin Pace on day one of camp? He's a fucking bad ass, and he knocks vets on their ass. Plus his name is John fucking Connor. If you ask me, that's one of the better rookie characters they've ever had on Hard Knocks.

They always follow 2-3 rookies as sympathetic characters because it gives the audience a human element. This is a given, but this year we get a lunch pail toting fullback named John Connor. That's an All-American Hero if I've ever seen one.

You have to realize that Hard Knocks has days worth of footage and has to build their story naturally, they can't just force all the "characters" into a segment if it doesn't fit. Unlike most reality shows, this one doesn't have the luxury of staging and scripts.

The producers will probably feature Bart Scott a bit more in later installments, he seems like a pretty compelling guy on the defense. Of course Darth Visor, Braylon, Sanchez and Cromartie will get their due as well.

In sum, I'm astounded that someone would think this season is lacking in characters.

My head tells me it's the latter....my heart tells me that I'm a fool for even thinking they have a shot at winning anything at all.
the NFL network doesnt even do THAT. ITs those stupid top 10 shows.
If they own so many years of footage, they arent showing any.

Or did I smoke some shit laced with hallucey's?

It's really a shame that Holmes is going to miss the first 4 (6?) games. He's fucking awesome.

I officially love Rex Ryan now. He's so typically "New York Jets" that it's amazing. He knows how to get the guys all fired up.

I agree with Riley. Santonio Holmes is awesome, especially at sideline catches. I want to draft him in fantasy just for the inevitable explosion in like week 10 or so...

And I love Rex Ryan too. He's the kind of coach that any player would love to play for. Funny bastard too.
