If Auburn Sits Cam Newton, WTF?

Rumors say he may not play against Georgia this weekend. Why would Auburn sit him if they're standing behind the kid?

Maybe his stupid dad shouldn't have been shopping his son for 150k.

sidenote: how does the ncaa get the government involved by looking at bank statements and shit. why the fuck is the ncaa so corrupt.

Because clearly they now realize that there is no way out of this. Auburn is fucked.

The FBI is looking into it because of possible extortion by Cam's dad, and the NCAA is cooperating with the government on the matter.

        Yeah, real corrupt.

I don't know, you figure it out... maybe because they know the allegations are true? Soliciting cash is already an NCAA violation, which jeopardizes the kid's eligibility. If he's found ineligible later, they vacate the Georgia game no matter what. Plus, there's another shoe yet to drop, and that's Auburn's involvement in all this. Because well, if he didn't sign with Mississippi State because they refused to pay him, what does that say about the school he did sign with?

I'm shocked to find out that there are payoffs for star athletes in the NCAA.

Maybe someone more well versed in the rules of the NCAA can tell me why Cam would be in trouble if his dad was the one trying to get money. I mean if Newton was over 18 and legally an adult how could he be held responsible for the actions of his father? Wouldn't the NCAA have to prove that Cam was complicit in the actions of his father to take action against Newton?

I don't have the exact quote, but I do recall Cam Newton citing his father's influence as a major part of his choice. Also, a Mississippi State assistant said Cam called him to say he couldn't commit there because his dad didn't want him to. I'm sure that will be a part of the investigation.

Yeah, but just because something happens more than it should doesn't mean we should stop caring when we find out about it. Cam deserves to get raked over the coals for this. Fuck him and his no-class family.

I agree. While it may be very premature to take sides here, it seems that Auburn is fucked no matter what at this point.

I was wondering the same thing but I saw on ESPN that it is illegal for players or anyone that is related/close to the player to be paid or ask for money. So even though it wasn't Cam directly he is linked to it because it was someone who is related/close to him that did it.

The NCAA is a joke of an organization to begin with.

And this justifies extortion and the pimping out of your own son, how?

Regardless of the NCAA, Cecil Newton is a slimeball, and Cam Newton is an entitled jerk who had already done some shady business at his previous school.

                        He deserves whatever he gets.

Exactly. Cam is an adult, he should have a grip on what people close to him are doing in talks with potential schools. If his dad was requesting money, Cam is just as guilty as if he himself did it.

                            Bring the fucking hammer down.

If USC was fucked over because of ONE guy trying to get paid.. Auburn sure as hell better suffer the same fate.
