One endzone for Illinois vs Northwestern at Wrigley

The Big Ten announced that only one end zone will be used at Wrigley Field on Saturday for the Illinois-Northwestern game because of safety concerns.

According to a statement issued by the Big Ten, the following changes will be made:

•All offensive plays will head toward the west end zone, including all extra points and all overtime possessions.

•All kickoffs will be kicked toward the east end zone.

•After every change of possession, the ball will be repositioned for the offense to head toward the west end zone.

    • As a result of a coin toss held by the conference office Friday morning, Illinois will occupy the west team bench in the first half and Northwestern will occupy the west team bench in the second half and for all overtime periods.
This shit was mind blowing to me... I dont understand why it's so important to play at Wrigley, if this is what has to be done to play there.

LMAO That's exactly what it reminded me of. Playing football on playground grass fields, using jackets, hats, bottles of soda, etc as pylons and markers for boundaries.

Sucks if you have East End Zone seats.

You mean seats to the north? Look how far away they are.

I want to see at least 4 interceptions for touchdowns going the other way so it makes the idea more than pointless

Because guys who return pick-sixes will run so fast they can't stop in the endzone...

The Ravens/Panthers game is only going to have one end zone used too.

And how did they play Bears games for 50 years in the past without this problem? (Judging by that picture), it looks like it would be fine if they rotated the field 90 degrees?

So if you get a pick and are taking it to the house, do you still run all the way to the other endzone or what?

No, it wasn't serious. I think every player should be able to come to a stop before crashing into the wall haha.

You would think they would have realized the logistics and dimensions of the field before they agreed to play at Wrigley.

If these field dimensions are up to date, it would probably be the same situation in that direction.

Wrigley is just a bad venue for football unless it's two teams running the triple option.
