Punters don't cause 21 point implosions. Teams do.

Yep. The one I saw had at least 7 guys blitzing on every third down. Maclin and Jackson were wide open all second half. Unless you think it's possible to rush 7 and still double receivers.

Even Jackson talked about it in his post game interview. "Vick could see I was getting frustrated by all the double coverage"

          :fuckyocouch:

Okay, so they were doubling Jackson... Does that change any of what I said? The Giants defensive gameplan was to blitz, blitz, blitz. They were rushing 7 and 8. It came back to burn them.

That return wasn't the punter's fault completely. Jackson just shot through the hole like a fucking bullet.

This was such a beautiful game to watch. Even more so when you have Mike Vick and Jeremy Maclin in your fantasy playoffs.

I found the assraping of Matt Hasselbeck to be a bit more enjoyable.

                  Don't Blame Matt Dodge

                  I don't blame Dodge

I missed the discussion last night because I was too busy throwing up, so I'll start my own thread

To pin this horiffic Giant loss on Matt Dodge is short sighted, Giants failed on so many levels and there's plenty of blame to go around

Manningham: You fumble when no one has even hit you as you're falling out of bounds......way to be careless with the rock

Fewell: So you go prevent and start dropping Justin Tuck back into coverage.....Tuck's only been our most consistent pass rusher all season and has given Vick fits.....yet you have him trying to cover Celek who's an above average tight end....good call....there's a reason why they say the prevent defense prevents you from winning

Coughlin: How do you not have the team prepared for an onside kick up 14 with only 7 minutes left? You should know that your offense was moving the ball pretty effectively all game and that Reid is not going to want to give you the ball back if he can help it....it's the coaches job to manage the game, and Coughlin failed miserably there

Aaron Ross: It's 3rd and 12 and Eagles are pinned deep on their own 12....so Fewell finally decides to blitz Ross and you inexplicably cut inside knowing damn well that is death to a defense in a cover zero with no one outside...Vick thanks you for the hospitality and cuts outside and picks up a huge gain

Deon Grant: You got Vick dead to rights on a blitz up the middle yet you whiff when Vick pulls a school yard move....Vick is gone

Coughlin: We get the ball back with 55 seconds, at this point with your team reeling and the Eagles have all the momentum, lets not do anything stupid here....Eagles have no timeouts so we can run the clock down.....first down, Eli overthrows Boss and it's almost picked off.....okay so I figured right there you have seen enough and you'll run it on second down and we can regroup for overtime.....but Eli throws incomplete stopping the clock.....WTF coach??...third down you call another pass and Eli takes a sack which actually benefits us because the clock doesn't stop......that was the worst series of play calling I've seen in a long ass time...just horrible game management

Dodge: All the aforementioned mistakes lead to us asking a erractic rookie kicker to kick it out of bounds, something he hasn't done consistently ALL YEAR....yet we are counting on you kid and when you don't deliver, you are the scape goat....better yet Coughlin screams at you on the field when he decided back in the summer that going with a rookie kicker was a wise decision to follow up Jeff Feagles who taught us how important directional kicking was....something he excelled with.....but the coach has enough faith in you to not bring in a veteran

Coughlin may as well been screaming at himself

I know the punt by Dodge was a bad mistake by the rookie but like you said, the Giants had to fail at every level from the coach on down to blow a 21 point lead with 8 minutes left.

Don't forget the awful missed tackle by Kenny "Joseph Addai's Son" Phillips.

I don't care if you're a rookie or a 15-year veteran - you are paid to kick the ball, and, when asked, you should be able to kick the ball out.

LOL. What the fuck is with all the fairies in this thread. I think G-Men is fucking retarded, but I almost agree with him.

This guy is a punter. He is paid to catch the snap and punt the ball. While the Giants had already given them the keys to the car, Dodge opened the door and buckled them in before they drove off.

And he did those things. Yeah he fucked up, but why blame him solely? And the game was going into OT either way. That's not Dodge's fault. Game should have been put away much earlier. This is equally on Coughlin, the defense, and the rest of the Giants.
