NFL teams let their quarterbacks get hit in practice.
-or-
Millionaire who employs a dozen of his friends/cousins to run an illegal dog fighting enterprise five states away allows said lackeys to handle his dirty work. That's stupider than Rawls expecting to catch Avon Barksdale with dope on the table.
I still haven't seen anywhere where Vick said he actually killed any dogs with his hands. All he said in his official testimony is that the killing of the dogs was a "collective effort," which could mean a lot of things. Maybe he did handle some dogs himself, or maybe he was in the room watching, or maybe that just means he gave the go ahead over the phone, etc. "Collective efforts" leaves a lot more gray area than "DON'T HIT THE QUARTERBACK" which you know damn well is a league-wide policy. Shit, even high school teams don't let their QB practice live.
Stop deflecting from the point, which is that any time Favre is involved, you resort to hyperbole and hagiography.Comment

"Collective effort" with Peace and Phillips means Vick directly took part in the hangings and drowings along with them.
The guy killed dogs.
"Collective effort" is just a more formalized/"legalized" way of saying it. That's all.
Point 11 on Page 5 of the first link is a telling sign.
"Vick did not kill any dogs at this time." Which means he later did. Which is where the "collective efforts" comes in at the end of the plea.Comment

That's fine, and I've already admitted in previous threads that I insulated myself from the story. But at no point in Brett Favre's career has he ever taken a hit in practice, and that statement is far more retarded than "I don't think a millionaire with dozens of lackeys/henchmen would be getting his hands dirty like that."
I was proven wrong, but it's still a plausible assumption to make, isn't it? At least when compared to the idiocy of suggesting Favre was taking 15-20 hits every day.Comment

But the NFL didn't give a shit, if they could have peeled themselves up off of the turf they could have gone right back in the game before this year.
The officially diagnosed number of concussions for Steve Young was 7 and Troy Aikman was 10. They have both said they believe the number to be higher. That means Young averaged a concussion once every 20.4 games and Aikman averaged one every 18 games.
Considering the shots that Favre has taken over a significantly longer period of time and his disregard of the opinions of the medical staff, it will likely never be known jus how many he had so hence my use of the word speculation.Comment
