Football is a FALL sport, not a winter sport. The occassional snow game looks cool and is fun to watch, but too much snow just kills the game and is horrible for travel.
this is all about money, not the fan safety. They know people wont show up and they will lose a shit ton because of it.

lol at fall sport. football is based on playing in the elements. some of the greatest games ever were played in horrible conditions.

btw, Steve Van Buren thinks this is a fine idea

    1948 NFL Championship game

Van Buren's signature game came on December 26, 1948. Playing in a blizzard for the NFL Championship against the Chicago Cardinals, Van Buren scored the only touchdown of the game to give the Eagles their first league title. They would win their second crown a year later against the Rams. In that game, Van Buren set a league record with 196 yards rushing.

The greatest irony was that Van Buren almost missed the game. Thinking the game wouldn't be played in the blizzard, he remained home until Eagles coach Earle "Greasy" Neale called him and told him the game was still on. He had to catch 3 trolleys and walk 12 blocks in order to make the game on time.

They'll make their money whether it's played tonight, monday night or tuesday night.

        Tickets were already sold.
This had more to do with legal liability, than fan safety or money.
Imagine the bad PR the NFL gets if they go ahead with this game and a bunch of drunk fans get into fatal car accidents after the game.

Going ahead with this game likely would have resulted in at least one auto fatality and likely more.

The NFL knew this ... and with Philly's mayor declaring a state of emergency, they had no choice but to re-sked it.

I hate that it's going to be on Tuesday too, but in all likelihood, the decision seriously saved lives.

legal liability? so the nfl is liable for people traveling to and from a game they paid for? cmon...that has flame me for being a retard written all over it

and while tickets may have been sold the eagles makes a ton off of parking, concessions etc ect.

since when has it been ok to postpone a game due to weather? the vikings game i can understand because the roof fell in and the gophers stadium wasnt prepared...but this postponement is a joke because they know they lose money if its played tonight

those same folks who dont have to travel in the snow to the game tonight will still be required to show up to work tomorrow morning.....so much for that safety theory

Yeah because they took a poll of all us Eagles fans to see whether we wanted the game postponed or not, right?

Except that a good amount of jobs are closed, but why would you know that, they don't usually hire the mentally retarded.

By the evening, the roads were horrible. By the time the game ended, it would have just been a disaster, with the cars that did come all snowed in. Yes, the snow actually did fall that quickly.

It seems the fans who are most upset are the ones who didn't buy tickets to the game. If I bought tickets, I would have been pissed if I didn't see that game and got a refund. I paid for a ticket for a reason, to see a game.

Oh and how about the Pats-Raiders few years back?!?!
How about driving there? They aren't fans during the drive to the game?

I didn't realize the Packers played in blizzard conditions every week.

Even if the decision was all about money, which it wasn't, so what? It is a business, you know. Is it not good business to hold the game until people will actually show up?

"Lol" all you want, but football is a fall game, and its not meant to be played in a blizzard. I don't know why people insist on that line of thinking.

Be regardless of any money issues or quality of play concerns, what it comes down to, is why make fans and stadium employees travel in that shit? Its dangerous and unessacery. Just play the game Tuesday. What's the big deal? Its better for everyone involved.

Yeah, would have been a great idea to have 70k people, + stadium workers, + league officials, + city workers traveling around late at night during a blizzard, just to appease some silly idealistic notion of "football is a mans game, played in the elements RAWR".

                          Stupid and dangerous.

Almost makes sense that the NFL would not schedule more than a handful of night games in cold weather markets the last 3 weeks of the season over the past 20 years for those very reasons

drama much? so now the nfl and every other sport can use this same excuse. if it was really bad and a safety issue then i can understand that. But its not really bad and its not about safety. That video shows how the snow fell. Big deal. Thats what plows are for. Its Philly for god sake. Its not like its Florida where they are not equipped to handle snow.

even the governor of PA said it was a joke to postpone the game
