    Brady Hoke to Michigan

Just broke on twitter. And Michigan's site is confirming it.

Nice signing from Michigan. After Les Miles I didn't know who they were after.

I wouldn't be shocked if Ryan Lindley went pro now rather than play his senior year under a new coach

          Whoooooooo.

I was talking to Krulmichael last night and we both agreed we would rather have Hoke over Miles right now.

Oh hey, looky here. In that Les Miles/Michigan Drama thread I put,

"Brady Hoke is our guy. I'm glad Miles stayed. Michigan doesn't need a big name to bring them back to respectability. Just make sure you get it right this time. Had they hired Les it would have looked like the past 3 years have looked like a complete "oops" moment like they wanted to get him all along.

Brady Hoke will be the new Michigan coach though. Bet it's named within the next 24 hours."

Guess I shoulda said within the next hour hah. Good call by UM. There is hope again!

Would be shocked if Rocky Long doesn't follow him. And if you're a Michigan fan, that should leave you very very happy. Trust me.

I'm not entirely sold on Hoke. He has done some turnarounds, but I forsee a lot of struggles for his first couple years at Michigan because of the awful scheme made by RRod. If it was Miles or Harbaugh, they would get leeway since they are big name coaches (one with a NC). I don't see Hoke getting the same leeway, especially from the fans and media. He was hardly the first choice... or second... or probably 3rd or 4th, so he will need to make an impact immediately.

Also, I think Michigan is going to be recruited against rather easily by other Big Ten teams. It isn't tough to recruit against a school that just hired a new coach by saying he may not be around in 5 years. Add in the fact that he is a sub-.500 coach overall in his career and recruits won't exactly be flocking to Big Blue.

San Diego State has promoted defensive coordinator Rocky Long to head coach after Brady Hoke was hired away by Michigan, according to an AP source.

Rocky Long was promoted to HC at SDSU to replace Hoke.

                    Nice double post Woy.

This sucks for SDSU, he brought that program up.

Doesn't matter who they have coordinating that defense unless they actually recruit on defense.

Scott Schafer has been a great DC before and after Michigan, and Greg Robinson was a great DC before Michigan. Then they all happen to give up the 3 worst defensive seasons in Michigan school history.

Give it 2-3 years before their defense is good again, regardless of the coach, thats how dire the recruiting is in the front 7 especially.

I don't disagree that UM needs defensive recruits moreso than a great coordinator, but calling Greg Robinson a great DC is a bit much. The guy has been terrible nearly everywhere he's been. After failed stints at KC, Texas, and Syracuse, I have no idea why UM hired him in the first place.

Well I guess that's one way to avoid losing him..

                          Great hire by SDSU.

He was actually pretty good in his lone year at Texas, which is what I was basing my argument on.

                              God awful head coach though.
