decent conversation ?
more often then not youre just another insulting jack ass.
The fact is most here are young and stupid. I have said many insightful things and thrown bones out there to get people to look at stuff from a different angle and given history lessons but the majority here are too stupid to get it. I say something about the Packers are named for workers as opposed to most every team being named after an animal or soldier or something and it gets totally bypassed. Most of you are inept, unthinking, fools with no respect for history or people.
:statue:
That got bypassed because it was useless and noone gives a fuck.Comment

maher is wrong. It is not socialism, it is not redistribution of wealth. Each team, all 32 provide what is needed to complete the contract. They put a team on a field that then gets televised in a variety of markets. This is what fox, cbs, nbc and espn pay for an NFL football game they are not paying for giants vs cowboys 17 times. each and every team contributes to the pot the same way. you can not argue quantity or quality because the networks are paying for an NFL game and that is provided by each and every team equally. each and every team gets an equal share of the pot.
it is not from each according to his ability to each according to his need.
maher is 100% wrong.
he just tried to use the yankees telling the rangers to stay off welfare to push his agenda. HOw he ever called himself a libertarian is beyond me.Comment

to further expand on why its a capitalist system why doesnt every team get to host a superbowl, the combine, the draft, the pro bowl? All are revenue generating products of the NFL and while the individual team income from some is not there it still brings in money to each city that would be a direct benefit to each team (save the draft and pro bowl)Comment

How does the Pro Bowl in Hawaii help any of the 32 teams?

FOX, CBS, NBC, ESPN pay whatever fee to the NFL. Let's just say it's $700 million combined for argument purposes.
All that money goes in one big pot and every team gets an equal share. No matter if the Browns had zero national games or if the Patriots had 5 national games. Each team gets the same amount.
Licensing fees from merchandise also goes in one big pot and is divided up equally amongst all 32 teams. So no matter if Tom Brady has the highest selling jersey, New England will not make more money off his jersey than the Arizona Cardinals will.

So how did the NFL Draft in NY help the Giants/Jets?
How does the Pro Bowl in Hawaii help any of the 32 teams?
Nope. It is. Revenue sharing is redistribution.

so what? none of that comes close to socialism.Comment

If it's direct capitalism, the NY Giants, the NY Jets, the Dallas Cowboys, the Pittsburgh Steelers, etc. should be making a shitload more coin off the TV contracts/merchandising than the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Green Bay Packers, etc.

a money making entity distributing its profit somewhat evenly to its different franchises doesnt have a damn thing to do with socialism.

At the end of the day Ram29jackson - be honest.
Would the NFL be better without a salary cap?
Would MLB be better with one?My Twitch video link: http://www.twitch.tv/dave374000

Just take it form the NFL's own opinion they are selling a product together , they sell the rights to televise their product and to sell their merchandise. The NFL doesn't make the choice to make more pats, steelers or giants jerseys, hats, etc that is made by the company with the contract to sell NFL merchandise.
If anything is an example of soicialism it is baseball and of course this was mahers idea of capitalism where the mets, yanks and red sox contribute money that gets sent to the small market teams. Teams that negotiate their own TV contracts for the majority of their games. teams that act as an individual entity ruled by a czar (selig)Comment

btw redistribution is when you take from one (like baseball) and give to another not when a group sells something and splits the profits.
If 5 of us had a pie and sold it for $5 and we each got a dollar thats revenue sharing if we each had a slice and you sold yours for 10 and i sold mine for 1 and someone took 3 from you gave it to me thats redistribution.Comment
