I should've clarified. I meant the more recent teams, basically since Carson Palmer onward.

I guess, but I still wouldn't put him on the list. He WAS an amazing returner.

You don't draft returners in the Top 5.

Most of you seem to think this is a "Biggest Bust" list. Might want to re-read the title.

            :iagree:

            But...

Would you take an early-career Devin Hester in the top 5?

I was confused by this too. I would have put him higher on the list. Same with Charles Rogers, I would have put him between Ron Dayne and Tim Couch. And it's tough to decide if Andre Ware or Chuck Long was the bigger Lions bust.

                Not a chance in hell.

Why would I waste a draft pick on a guy whose effect on the game is very minimal and can be kept out of the game by simply, not kicking it to him?

                  1. Every time he gets the ball, he has a good chance to score. That's a pretty big effect.

                  2. I can't really argue with it, but kicking away from a person is harder than it looks. It either involves kicking short, which leads to better field position for the return team, or kicking out of bounds, which usually ends up leading to better field position.

Having a good returner gives you 5-15 "invisible" yards on every drive. Yes, kicking away from the player will shut them out, but those 15 yards can make a huge difference on a drive.

Any player who can be contained by a kicker and/or punter, doesn't deserve to be a Top 5 pick. He actually returns the ball 2-3 times a game. Scoring a touchdown once every 15 touches. Sorry, I'll stick to actually drafting players who can win me more then 1 or 2 games.
