Your right. It's fun to see some of these guys straight line speed though.

The first 10 yards and some of the agility drills should be taken more into account though.
The first 10 yards are all dependent on the start, though.

Although Byron Maxwell just ran one of the ugliest 40's I've ever seen and somehow clocked in at 4.46 somehow.

I like watching the agility drills much more. I wish they'd come up with some other drills to so that we could see change of direction, ball hawking ability, acceleration/deceleration, etc.

        4.37 for PP's 2nd run.

You can tell by his arm extension and how he keeps his head down while hitting full stride that he's been coached well.

Carrying 70% of his weight in his legs and ass can't hurt, either. Dude's built like a horse.

I enjoy watching it, but I just can't understand why so much stock is put into the 40.
Agreed. The 40 time is so overrated because a player is never going to have the opportunity to run 40 yards in a straight line unless he's already beaten every other defender. They need way more position specific drills.

Peterson's height and speed are so damn attractive...if I were Denver, I'd consider taking him regardless of just signing Champ.

But the 40 can be so much more. Like in any job interview, you jump through hoops to prove you have the skills but also the intangibles to succeed. Like said earlier, Peterson has been coached well. That means he is putting in the effort and time to put a polished product out there at Lucas Oil Stadium. A guy that runs a sloppy 40 and has horrible form speaks a lot about his professional behavior.

But then again, it really does show that some kids are actual fast. Look at Amukamara. Nobody is going to call that kid a step too slow anymore... All thanks to the NFL Combine.

I need to stop obsessing about Amukamara. There are a lot of solid corners in this class but this guy just seems like the next Champ Bailey to me. He is the type of player that I'll follow through his career and always wish the best for. He is just a classy guy, a technician, and a physical presence.

Go look at film of him. He sheds blocks as well as any corner I've seen. He isn't afraid to push around the receiver down the field. He is a great tackler for a corner.

Mind you, this is coming from a Columbia, Missouri native and die-hard Mizzou fan. I hate all things Cornhusker... except Prince Amukamara.

Curtis Brown (Texas) caught my attention today, Didn't see any following behind him. I think he will be a good Nickleback, he will need to put some weight on if he ever hopes to see a starting role.

Allen Bailey supposedly looked like ass in positional drills. So did Orlando Franklin.
