The Patriots mess up plenty of times in the top of the draft. Look at the '06 draft. The only player they still have I believe is Gostkowski. I think the good teams find a way to overcome their bad drafts and always have competition. While as a team like the Raiders will draft Darrius Heyward-Bey and then reserve him a spot in the starting lineup regardless of how good or bad he actually is.

youre just one of those really annoying kids that just finds a ton of useless stats that mean pretty much nothing in terms of the discussion to try to sound like you know what youre talking about. who gives a fuck if the Patriots had a bad 2006 draft or if Peyton Manning's completion percentage over 20 yards is not much better than Gabbert's. that shit adds nothing to the actual discussion.

Yes it does? The Patriots have not been drafting very well recently. They got a couple of good players. But what I'm saying is I think for the most part (there are some exceptions) you're wrong. But because they are so good at finding pieces people overlook their lack of draft success recently. In the latter part of this decade their drafting hasn't exactly been anything to brag about. You're right in terms of a situation of DeWayne Robertson being made a nose tackle. He was out of position then got a couple of knee injuries and from then on was no good. Other than something like that, I think you're wrong.

its funny you say that because the Patriots not only drafted one but the TWO best tight ends in this draft class. add to that McCourty who was a Pro Bowler and not to mention the Steelers also drafted a Pro Bowler of their own in Pouncey.

all in all coaching is what often times make the players. either that or they just have superior scouting.

I was referring to their 2006-2010 draft classes as well. Not just the latest one.

2006 was not a good draft for the Patriots but the majority of teams have a bad draft every five years or so, thats common. however in the past four drafts, the Patriots have had first round picks in three of them. those picks have resulted in Brandon Meriweather, Jerod Mayo, and Devin McCourty, all of whom are Pro Bowlers. something tells me if these guys get drafted by the Raiders or Lions, they fall into the black hole of busts. theres a reason those teams have taken almost a decade to rebound from the retirement of their stars (Barry Sanders and Rich Gannon).

I think Mallet and Fairley might be the most talented players in the draft, but they seem to have "issues". I wouldn't entrust my franchise to either guy.

I think Gabbert and JJ Watt are going to be terrible.

The three of them are all pretty much boom or bust. I could see all of them falling flat on their faces.

Which of course scares me, because Dallas has an extreme need at the RT position.
Though I have to say, I'm starting to believe the Tyron Smith hype.

I think Cam will be the bust, I also like the Ingram pick.

My pick is Julio Jones ( I think that foot is going to be a constant problem and all though his "bustiness" may not reach the likes of Russell he will be considered one for the amount of hype he received.
