While people wait to see where Plaxico Buress could end up following his release from prison, another former Giants standout could shockingly be returning to football.
Tiki Barber and his agent told FOXSports.com Tuesday that the former Giants running back has decided to return to the NFL.
"After seeing my brother still have fun at our age, it reignited the fire. I'm really looking forward to the challenge of seeing if I can get back to the level of where I was," Barber, who turns 36 in April, told FOXSports.com exclusively. "I started working out again recently. It kind of shocked myself. I still had a lot of the strength I had before. I'm really looking forward to making a return."
"We filed papers for Tiki to come out of retirement" Barber’s agent, Mark Lepselter, told FOXSports.com. "We filed papers with the commmissioner's office and the Giants. And there are interested parties."
The Giants now have to activate him and then decide whether to release or keep him
I'd like to see him go to TB, play with his brother. They could use depth too, but he's nothing more than a stop gap. He could be a good player if they keep his reps lowish.
She probably took all his money, thus he "has an itch" to play football again.
Which player was it that said that "likely 70% of NFL players are just there for a paycheque?"
Barber left the game early, he didn't play it for his "love of the game" or "desire to win a Super Bowl". This is all about money, guaren-fuckin-teed.
What player would want to "play for the love of the game"? Making large amounts of money should be motivation for anyone to pursue a career in professional sports. IMO 70% is probably too low.

Of course making large money is motivation to do just about anything.
I suppose what I'm trying to illustrate would explain why I prefer watching footie or hockey to NFL. While those other athletes do play for money, there is also a deep desire to win, to sacrifice themselves for the good of the team....which is very rare in the NFL.
I suppose I would have preferred the NFL more before money consumed the athletes into becoming egomaniacs.
In the end, if the only reason they play a sport is the paycheque, then you the viewer/consumer/fan, are not likely getting your money's worth to see them play.

NFL players have a deep desire to win...I don't see how you can quesiton that. Just because they're making millions doesn't mean they don't care about winning. NFL players sacrifice enough simply playing the sport.
You sound like an old man. I wouldn't say money as much as the media attention has consumed athletes. They are stars and given how much money they generate they're well worth what they're paid.
I've never felt cheated watching a professional sport. The majority of guys who simply play for the money eventually push themselves out of any professional league.

Well the quote I was referring before (It wasn't posted that long ago here, someone help me out) was a player stating that he believed 70% of the NFL played for money and nothing more. They didn't care about getting a ring.
This isn't ME, this is an NFL player saying this. They would know, I kinda wouldn't.
Regardless, there's no comparison to hockey and football when it comes to passion and commitment to winning. None.
Albert Haynesworth?
Jay Quitler?
Randy Moss?
There's 3 high end players of the top of my head without even needing to think, that I can accuse of not having the heart I expect from a pro athlete. Quitler is debatable and I don't care to get into it, but that's my opinion.
