i wouldnt be so sure. just from knowing some of these guys, i feel like at least one or two of them will jump ship and try to go to a bigger team, most likely Hamilton and Shumate.

        Notre Dame adds another one

SOUTH BEND — South Bend Washington High School athlete David Perkins announced Tuesday morning that he will play football at Notre Dame.

The 6-foot-2, 210-pound senior-to-be received a scholarship offer last week from Irish coach Brian Kelly, and had narrowed his list of finalists to ND, Syracuse, Mississippi State, Iowa and Tennessee. Perkins made his announcement during a press conference at the Washington library.

Perkins is the 10th player to verbally commit to Notre Dame’s recruiting class of 2012. He also is the second South Bend high school player in the last three years to pick Notre Dame.

Clay’s Daniel Smith signed with the Irish in 2010 and enters his sophomore season looking to make an impact at wide receiver after playing mainly on special teams as a freshman last fall.

"You can never, ever, if you’re Notre Dame, pass up a guy locally with that kind of ability," CBS College Sports recruiting analyst Tom Lemming said of Perkins.

Perkins could play a number of positions for the Irish. He was used as a running back and wide receiver last season at Washington. He ran for 765 yards on 82 carries, scoring three rushing touchdowns. He also caught 12 passes for 176 yards and four TDs.

Perkins also registered 13 sacks playing defensive end and outside linebacker for the Panthers. He played his first two seasons at Kalamazoo (Mich.) Central High before transferring to Washington prior to his junior season.

Lemming projects Perkins as an outside linebacker at ND, in large part because of 4.5-second speed in the 40-yard dash, and that he stands 6-2.

"He’s tall and he can run," Lemming said, "and that’s two qualities Notre Dame looks for.

"He’s not yet a super player, but he has the potential to be that."

Sean Maguire is an interesting pick up but I'm not going to doubt Jimbo!

I just read about this Maty Mauk kid... and shit. 69 TDs and 14 INTs last year? Throughout his HS career he has passed for 13,519 yards, 151 TDs/47 INTs and 35 rushing TDs. Anybody know anything about this kid's skill set or the offense/team he played on?

This video is all I got but it's pretty exciting.

Not a ton of big time offers. Basically he chose between ND, Mizzou, and Illinois. Kelly offered him as a Soph at Cincy. Carried the offer over to when he came to ND. Ohio State was sniffing around a while ago. Drew a lot of interest but it didn't translate into a ton of offers. He was considered an ND lock around the new year because Kelly had a great relationship with Mauk's older brother Ben.

ND picked up Golson and Hendrix emerged a bit and ND cooled on Mauk a bit.

3* recruit. Concerns about his size, speed, and skill set transitioning over to the college game.

Played in a relatively weak division of Ohio Football. Doesn't have the factor he had a few months ago in terms of buzz around a recruit but a really nice get for Mizzou and the system they run.

                          GoldenAl is doing the...

11 Local (Dade, Broward, Palm Beach) kids.
                          6 In-State Non-Local kids.
                          4 Out-of-State kids.

At least 3-of-4 OOS kids attended a GoldenAl camp.
At least 4-of-6 In-State Non-Local kids attended a GoldenAl camp.
(could be more, just unsure if a few kids actually attended and worked out at a camp).

At least 8 commitments are a direct result of an offer coming after a big time performance at one of our camps. Several others have been big on some of Mike Bakas' camps and the 7-on-7 scene.

He's making it a premium on guys he has seen live and in color. He's awarded 8 scholarships to kids who have succeeded at our camps.

I really like the way this class looks so far.

IF, and its a big IF...GoldenAl and his staff are maintaining the same level of coaching they did at Temple, we will be good moving forward.

Michigan lures five-star OL prospect Kyle Kalis from Ohio State

Ohio State's recruiting difficulties are becoming Michigan's gain on the recruiting trail. The biggest tangible swing came Monday when offensive tackle Kyle Kalis committed to the Wolverines.

Kalis, who is rated as Rivals.com's No. 4 offensive tackle prospect and the No. 18th player overall, becomes the highest-ranked recruit among the 19 commitments received in Wolverines coach Brady Hoke's first full recruiting class.

A former Ohio State commitment under ex-coach Jim Tressel, the 6-foot-5, 302-pounder was among the most vocal supporters of sticking with his Buckeyes commitment. But as the tide turned and the NCAA allegations mounted, Kalis decommitted.

"I can't go there and take penalties for something I never did," Kalis told ESPN.com on Monday. "Ohio State is a great program. I'm just not sure how long it will take them to recover. I want a solid, grounded coaching staff with a safe environment. Where there aren't such tough questions."

Ohio State's difficulties are becoming Michigan's gain. Lakewood (Ohio) St. Edward offensive tackle Kyle Kalis committed to the Wolverines, according to multiple recruiting sites.
