ND beats USC and wins out with one only one loss(in OT in September) no way PSU passes them in the polls.

ND goes to the BCSCG and gets blown out.

My Dad called this morning already. Sold out. He has to call back Friday morning.

I'm going to keep trying to get them tickets.

I have to go to a fucking wedding of a "friend" of my wife that she doesn't even like.

I was called out pretty quickly too because you used a Nike template. Fucking amateur. LOL

Fooled me though. Based on what they used for ND-UM, I thought a plaid jersey was plausible. In hindsight, I guess that's probably too "out there" for Notre Dame.

Are they going to release any more tickets tomorrow or Friday?

Jayrock - this was posted about your plaid jersey:

Whoever designed those should have his arms ripped off and beaten to death with them.

Yeah, that's the schtick. It just seems too hard to fool the players these days. You'd have to put a long freeze on the green jerseys in order for these guys to be surprised again. I'm talking 5-10 years no green jerseys at all. Forget they even have them. The way it is today, everyone expects the green jerseys for USC at home. It looses that motivating punch that it's supposed to deliver.

We haven't worn green jerseys at home against USC a lot recently though.

Basically 2005 and 2007(which was the 30th anniversary of the 1977 Devine/Trojan Horse game)

Prior to 2005 I can't remember the last time we worse green vs the Trojans.

Sometime in the Faust/Devine era I would think.

The only games I can recall green/home jerseys for in my lifetime are: Florida 1992 (Sugar Bowl. Green numbers on white), 2002 vs BC(Horrible Kelly Green version), 2005 vs USC(FUCK), 2006 vs Army("break the curse of the green jersey"), 2007 vs USC(30th anniversary), 2010(vs Army at Yankee Stadium).

I think we wore them for a bowl game in there somewhere. (Gator Bowl vs GaTech when Autry Denson was here?) Oh yeah and the 1995 Fiesta Bowl vs Colorado.

I think the stat is that in the last 30 years the greens have only been worn like 10 times.

My point was that the whole green jersey thing has lost it's cache recently. Just the mere fact that we're trying to guess if they are wearing green this weekend is proof enough. I'm sure the players are guessing too. The green jerseys are supposed to be completely unexpected. It's a special motivation tool for a huge, huge game. It's not really "in the spirit" when everyone is expecting it. Even once every 3 years, on average, is even too frequent.

2005 vs USC was huge. It had NC implications. Neither team is ranked this year. This is the least important USC-ND game for as long as I can remember. When was the last time these two teams met and neither team was ranked? And if they do wear them this weekend, that's 3 of the last 4 home games vs USC with green jerseys.

I'll throw this out there too...

Notre Dame to Break Out the Green Jerseys in ’11.
by Dave on July 28, 2011

Earlier this week the Notre Dame equipment manager posted a picture on Twitter of a green jersey with the caption “check out what came in yesterday”. I was relieved that it wasn’t the horrible bright green and yellow ones circa 1977, but the dark green and gold like they wore last year against Army. The bright ones bring back horrible memories of the 38-0 stomping the Trojans gave the Irish in 2007. In 2005 the Irish nearly toppled mighty USC in the emerald green and gold uniform, but a miraculous fourth down pass and a “Bush Push” propelled the Trojans to victory.

When I first saw the green jersey posted online I immediately thought the Irish would wear them in the primetime matchup against ‘SC this year. It is going to be the first true night game in twenty years in Notre Dame Stadium, and it is sure to be a memorable game. Although my first reaction was the USC game, when I thought about it a little more I realized it might not be as obvious as it seems. Notre Dame’s schedule is set up with a “home game” at a neutral site every year, and last year the Irish rolled into Yankee Stadium in the greens against the Golden Knights of Army. This year despite playing the Maryland Terrapins in Landover, Maryland, it is considered a Notre Dame home game. Brian Kelly may make a tradition out of wearing the green jerseys in this annual neutral site home game.

The Irish have proved they can pound on Army wearing the green threads, but I haven’t seen them win a game that was significant wearing them. The closest thing to a significant win wearing alternate uniforms I have seen was the 1992 Sugar Bowl against Florida. The underdog Irish had white jerseys with green numbers, and Jerome Bettis ran all over the Superdome as the Irish upset the “old ball coach”, Steve Spurrier and the Gators 39-28. The Irish better to play well in the alternate uniforms this year as they play Michigan in away green numbered throwbacks, and a home game in the emerald green.

I think the article title is a bit presumptuous, and I don't think the equipment manager should be Tweeting that pic, but they do have them at their disposal for 2011.

                            Maybe.

But honestly there has always been talk of it before big games. I remember there was a lot of talk about it before FSU in 1993. USC in 2005 etc.

Should it be a surprise? Maybe. Realyl I don't care because at the end of the day I don't think the green jereys give us any "advantage". It's just an alternate jersey and although it's "special" because ND doesn't really wear alternates a ton I don't think it's some pyschological advantage at all.

it's great game week fodder and good for speculation but overall I'm "meh" on if it should be a secret or not.

I guess. But I don't really count 2007 for the simple fact that it was promoted as the anniversary of the 1977 game and wasn't some motivational ploy. Just a throwback. No different than the Michigan ones from this year.
